Best trad album---Postcards

Best musical album for children---Pocketful of Stardust

and these two brilliant women PRODUCED Tom Paxton's nominated album in that same category--- YOUR SHOES, MY SHOES.

THIS MIGHT BE THE TIME THAT THEY FINALLY GET TO TAKE THE AWARD HOME. IF THERE IS ANY JUSTICE IN THIS WORLD, 2003 WILL BE ALL CATHY AND MARCY !!!!! C. & M. have had five other nominated albums over the years, and then lost to purple monsters etc. etc. etc.

CATHY & MARCY, my fingers are, once again, crossed for you even if it means Tom won't win this go around !!!!!

Actually the best thing so far was the 18 year old little twit who announced David Bowie as David Bow(as in bow-wow)ee. Getting old's a bitch ain't it? Who says those rocker youngsters have no respect for tradition?

Actually I admire Avril - she is not a twit. Her songs have a bit more intelligence over the usuall fodder in pop music.   I respect her for not following the fashion trends and creating her own style.

I never listen Ron, but I heard an interview she did yesterday and her main response on several questions was "Whatever." Perhaps scintillating conversation is not a requirement but geeziz......Maybe she's okay, I don't know....whatever........

Avril has her mouth open in a scream in nearly every picture I've ever seen of her. BUT I did like that first song she had out. Skater Boy, though, I don't care for.

Not to be partial or anything, but I have to cheer for Fiddlers 4. :-)

And Spaw, when he first became famous, Bowie's name was prononounced like bow-wow, gradually changing into the current Bowie (knife) pronunciation as he became better-known in America. Shoulda stuck to his real name -- Jones!

He could not though. At the beginning of his career, there was already a famous David Jones. He was the Brummie (I believe) actor who played a role in "The Monkees".

Spaw, I've only heard her because my daughter has been playing her CD. As for her interviewing skills, I often think back on Bob Dylan's wonderful style during the early 60's.   Having done a few interviews with musicians over the years I know how bored they can get with inane questions repeated over and over.   I like to give artists their space, and I think Avril is just discovering hers.

I'm not a huge fan, but I give her credit for individuality instead of falling into the cookie cutter pop star mold.   Her songs are a big step up.

From what I understand, it is only we North Americans who don't pronounce it Bow ie, Apparently in the U.K. it has always been pronounced that way.

I always thought that Randy Bachman of Bachman Turner Overdrive was pronounced Bach man, I heard him interviewed a while ago and he pronounces it Backman.

I'm glad to see that Cathy and Marcy have nominations; I hope it's their year as well. I really liked the Legacy Cd with Doc and David Holt as well.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how albums or vocalist or groups are nominated? I mean to record labels submit copies of CDs for consideration?

I'd like to put in a good word for High Lonesome Cowboy by Perter Rowan and Don Edwards. It's one heck of a good CD. Plus the backup guitar players are Norman Blake and Tony Rice. Well worth your money. Check it out.

According to Angela Bowie, D Bowie actually took the name from Jim Bowie, because he wanted a name that sounded American--it was apparently some time later that he learned how to say it--

I hope that this is the year for Cathy and Marcy--I took it as a good omen that Elmo was not nominated for any of his fine work this year--
