Subject: BS: UK Fraud warning From: GUEST,Mac Tattie Date: 07 Jan 03 - 02:25 PM A warning to all "Folk" busness people and anyone else it might concern, a "company" calling it's self, Data protection Agency Services, whose return address is, Atlantic House, 1st. Floor, 56 Ramsbottom Street, Crew, Cheshire, CW1 3AN. is currently running a scam. This involves sending out final demands for regestering under The data Protection Act 1998. This official looking form brings notice of fine upwards of £5000 for failing to regester and a demand for £95. It is TOTALY, FALSE and FRADULENT. Your £95 will get you nothing but a sinking feeling in your stomach. If you recieve one of these forms take it to your local trading standards office and police station. cheers |

Subject: RE: BS: UK Fraud warning From: Gareth Date: 07 Jan 03 - 02:39 PM Click 'Ere for the official site of the UK Data Protection Register. The scam Mac Tattie mentions seems to be a varient on the old "international Telex directory" invoice. The cost of registry is £35.00, and the forms are easy to fill in, no rocket scientists required. Gareth |
