Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Mugwump Date: 09 Jan 03 - 08:12 AM Dave Kenningham plays there! - End of ...! |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Dave Bryant Date: 09 Jan 03 - 08:31 AM Shhhhh - it's more likely to be End of Club if you advertise that. Mind you, beside the would-be muscleman who posted previously, you will usually find those fair maidens Rock Chick and DipsoDeb and Essex Girl and myself have been known to turn up. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: catspaw49 Date: 09 Jan 03 - 08:37 AM Any of y'all notice the link don't work or are you just jaw-jackin' anyway? Want it fixed or is it unneeded? Spaw |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Mr Happy Date: 09 Jan 03 - 08:45 AM could have a virus on it- i just picked one up about ten mins ago- have to shut down & do cleanup- don't clik it |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Mugwump Date: 09 Jan 03 - 08:48 AM Try this link to FolkMob It should work - or just type folkmob.co.uk into browser. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: cockney Date: 09 Jan 03 - 09:08 AM I can assure mudcat people that there is no virus on our webpage. I don't know why Mr Happy is saying don't click it. The reason that the link posted by "guestelric crapton" did not work is because he was uaing the wrong URL try this one FolkMob We have Derek Brimstone appearing on 29th January. Dave Kenningham IS a regular at our club, he is probably one of the finest performers in London at the moment. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Noreen Date: 09 Jan 03 - 10:25 AM elric crapton had merely omitted the http:// prefix, so the server tried to find the website within Mudcat and was unsuccessful. Site looks very interesting and informative, thanks! If I'm ever travelling your way... |

Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: GUEST Date: 12 Jan 03 - 06:24 PM Hey! If you think I'm buying anybody a drink, you're from another planet. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Dipsodeb Date: 12 Jan 03 - 07:14 PM of course one must realise that Mr Kenningham is only into black russians, then again, iv'e never known him to be a racist, he'll drink any coloured drink. ;0) |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: rock chick Date: 14 Jan 03 - 08:04 AM Into 'Black russians' is there the possibility of a rumour here! I think he like a REAL pint myself, though i have heard he will try anything once! |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Dave Bryant Date: 14 Jan 03 - 09:14 AM Put me down for a quart tankard of London Pride - Linda will have a pint of the same. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: rock chick Date: 14 Jan 03 - 06:25 PM Pint of the Vodka will do VERY nicely, touch of lime and a splash of tonic ;o}} notice the quivering lips thats with the thought of it, I mean the drink! what are you like mmmmmmm |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Dave Bryant Date: 15 Jan 03 - 04:56 AM You've got to drink it down in one, Shelagh ! |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Mugwump Date: 15 Jan 03 - 08:50 AM Who's Shelagh? |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: rock chick Date: 15 Jan 03 - 04:10 PM No idea, please don't start another rumour. Essex Lady may not like it!! |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: GUEST,Folkman Date: 16 Jan 03 - 08:32 AM well I went to this club and I thought it was crap! There was this cranky old age pensioner croaking "mona lisa" and some bloke with a Kinks songbook in front of him strumming bum notes. The compere was a half wit who couldn't remember who he was introducing and didn't know what a harmonica was - "one of those things you blow" Then they had the cheek to charge me £2 Avoid this place |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Essex Girl Date: 16 Jan 03 - 09:21 AM In reply to 'Folkmans' comments, the Tudaor Barn is advertised as an 'acoustic' club rather than a pure folk club. Did Folkman go there to sing himself? On some nights they have some very good singers/musicians. This club does need more support and will accept aalmost any sort of music. So turn up folks and show us what you can do. On 29th January they have Derek Brimstone (see separate thread) An evening not to be missed. So TURN UP . without support clubs will close so use it or lose it. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Mugwump Date: 16 Jan 03 - 10:51 AM Yes I agree with Essex girl. this Wednesday was not a paticularly good night, but it's only as good as people want to make it. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Dave Bryant Date: 16 Jan 03 - 11:17 AM Rock Chick - Essex Lady ? - have you ever been to Essex - esp Harlow where Essex Girl (and McGrath) come from. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: rock chick Date: 16 Jan 03 - 01:50 PM Well Folkman, so you didn't like the pub or the people, well maybe they) didn't like you! And the pensioner who you said croaked is a fine singer, elderly maybe but a dedicated supporter who supports all singers, whether they are excellent, shy, beginners or what ever, if they have the nerve to sing in front of people, then they deserve support, not criticism. Maybe you have forgotten what it was like when you started. You know what they say those who have been criticised all their life grow up to be critical!!! That says it all. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Mugwump Date: 17 Jan 03 - 01:05 PM Hear! hear! |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: rock chick Date: 17 Jan 03 - 01:08 PM You woodn't be taking the Micky out of what i do for a living now wood you? |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Roxanne Date: 17 Jan 03 - 01:13 PM What this Folkmob lot then, kind of like the sound of the name |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Dipsodeb Date: 17 Jan 03 - 06:48 PM Roxanne The Folk Mob are a friendly bunch of nutters, who meet on a Wednesday night at the Tudor Barn Pub, Well Hall Rd, Eltham. If you go to the Blue Clicky on the first Thread of this page you can get all the info. Come along and try it for yourself.. sometimes it's great and sometimes (rarely) it's crap as can be said for alot of small clubs, as Charles pointed out any night is what you make it. Sorry Folkman, I don't recall you, so you could not have had much of an impact on the evening or it's quality. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it that night. Poor old Bill, he would be devastated if we passed on your comments, and would probably never get up to sing again. One great thing i can say about the Folk Mob is they are tolerant and encouraging to everyone. GET A LIFE! |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: rock chick Date: 18 Jan 03 - 01:21 PM Hopefully see you sometime then at the Tudor Barn, there a great crowd there. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: GUEST,Folkman Date: 19 Jan 03 - 10:46 AM Alright! I was only joking FolkMob are are truly wonderful bunch of people! Apart from the creeping, bearded wierdo that goes around squeaking "I'm a sound engineer, I'm a sound engineer!" Sorry Bill old chap. Folkus Manocus |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: GUEST Date: 19 Jan 03 - 11:19 AM More grovelling needed before you are forgiven A |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Mugwump Date: 20 Jan 03 - 03:48 AM I don't think Folkman should be forgiven - it's a great club. Certainly the best folk club I,ve been to here and in the states |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Dave Bryant Date: 20 Jan 03 - 05:29 AM Well, as Linda and I are both card-carrying members of FOLKMOB, we'll try and get there this Wednesday for the singaround. We'll definitely be there for Derek Brimstone the following week. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: GUEST Date: 20 Jan 03 - 06:43 AM Come on Charles Atlas it's obvious Folkman engaged his mouth before his brain! there again maybe he hasn't got one!!! |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Dave Bryant Date: 22 Jan 03 - 04:34 AM To all FOLKMOB members - have you contacted your MP yet about EDM 331 which is suggesting changes to the PEL proposals. I've contacted Clive Efford, Eltham's MP, and at last receieved an answer from him saying that he'll have a look at the motion - he still doesn't seem to have signed up though. If you live in Eltham, send Mr Efford a FAX (you can find out how to do it on the above-mentioned thread) he sounds as though he might be swayed. If you don't live in the Eltham constituency, FAX your own MP. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: GUEST Date: 22 Jan 03 - 05:55 AM Hope you lot are attended the PEL demo on the Monday 27th starts at 1pm Parliment square, we need all the people poss, there is no excuse even if it is a week day cause thats the best time to make it effective. So come on you lot get youseelves there. |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: GUEST,Dave Kenningham Date: 22 Jan 03 - 12:16 PM Don't forget tonight at The Tudor Barn Eltham.see FolkMob Ssee all you music lovers, strummers & singers for PARTY TIME!!! |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: GUEST,Folkman Date: 22 Jan 03 - 12:26 PM Hope DK aware of his name being taken in vain ;o/ amounst all the others ;o) |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Mugwump Date: 24 Jan 03 - 07:17 AM Don't forget Derek Brimstone Wednesday 29th Jan |
Subject: RE: FOLKMOB From: Dave Bryant Date: 24 Jan 03 - 07:27 AM It's a pity that DK's birthday thread has been deleted - perhaps we should send the pictures up for entry in the Mudcat Calendar - The entries from Essex Girl and myself both reveal more bare flesh than DK is showing. OK - Rhona is displaying quite a lot, but it was a paid gig for her - if she was a regular booking we'd pack the place ! |
