Hi

It takes place between 14th and 23rd February in York, UK, and is organised by the Jorvik Centre.   There are a number of events taking place such as:-

battles
meet the vikings
evening with the vikings including drinking (of course!), norse ballads, etc
traditional viking wedding
viking walks along river ouse
continental market
more FOOD n DRINK!!!!
saga night (self explanatory with lots of FOOD n DRINK)
viking raiders, traders and settlers
craft market
longship river challenge
viking workshops

It ends with Death in the Dark which is a battle between two viking forces.

Basically if you're into norse mythology, music, food, DRINK, vikings, violence etc a good time will be had by all.    If you want a break from the vikings there's always the rest of York to look around.   If you don't enjoy it we comes and beats you up (with big clubs).

The website address is http://www.jorvik-viking-centre.co.uk/SpecialEventsFestival.htm

If you know how to turn this into a blue meanie(clicky) please do so me cant figure it :-(((((

The Vikings stroll around the city too. So far they haven't seemed to be in the mood for pillage....

I've just signed up for some of the events. My son Liam is doing Vikings for his primary school project at the moment and we're off to Norway in April so it fits in nicely. The 'Death in the Dark' night battle event sounds great - except that I might have to restrain Liam from joining in!

Cheers
Sarah
