Subject: Lyr Req: Old Bally Mo From: BTMP Date: 17 Jan 03 - 03:59 PM I'm looking for the lyrics to this song which starts out: In the county Roscommon in the hailstorm and rain I was crossing the fields on my way to the train. I met a coleen and said she 'Do you know The shortest short road into Old Bally Mo?' I know it was recorded back in the late 40s, early 50s - my Mom had a 78rpm recording on the 'Celtic' label. I've searched the places I know, but have had no luck. Thanks. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Old Bally Mo From: Warsaw Ed Date: 17 Jan 03 - 07:47 PM I have a CD by the Sean O'Neill Band Album "Irish Songs of Wit and Wisdom" Erin Records, Belfast (1994). It was purchased last year from an on line shop, I believe, in Boston along with other Sean O'Neill CDs. I don't have the files sorted. The lyrics are here on Mudcat under the subject "In the County Roscommon" from Wolfgang 25 February 1999. Ed |

Subject: Lyr Add: OLD BALLY MOE From: Warsaw Ed Date: 26 Jan 03 - 01:23 AM I did the ABC Notation on the first verse, so I might as well post it. There are a few flaws in the timing, but it's only my second attempt at ABC notes. The tune is similar to "The Old Orange Flute."
