Yep, I asked this month and got a grudging assent for that Saturday.
Genie, I'll call you with that tune as soon as I    have your card and my cell phone in the same place at the same time.

\here's hoping my gel shots last until then. -- MA

It's a date, Amos, Jen, Angus et al.! Now let's see if Mag and I can work up a stirring rendition of "Walla Walla Woman Blues."*

Flash Packet from the Runamuck Potentate!!

Latest plan has the date moved forward to August and the convention has been scheduled for the weekend of August 23-25.

Please make sure to make it, please!!

If you pencil it now, you can defend it with ruthless determination!!

I understand Mousethief is preparing a Special Treat for those bold enough to claim it with their presence -- and a special musical adaptation as well, possibly...

Anyone who survived Runamuck I knows it is a not-to-be-missed opportunity..for..um...world-class...um...well, not-to-be-missed, anyway!!

Just got back from Rainy Camp, and my appetite for group singin' and pickin' is whetted. Can't wait to hear & see Angus's new shtick.

Looks like we've got a good group shaping up. Hope you can make it for part of the time, Jack and Mag.

Just saw the date and the Mrs and I are departing Vancouver BC for an Alaska Cruise on the 13th. At best, we could swing around byway of Yakima and Ellensburg and spend part of a day. I wish I could promise, but will have to leave it as a maybe.

Laurel, due to my job situation, I won't be at either spring or fall Strawberries. I still need about 1500 work hours before I can take my Journeyman exam,and I just can't afford the time off until I get that License. It's going to be strange as Strawberry has been a major part of my life for the last 17 years. But I've been laid off so much over the past 2 years that I'm turning a 4 year apprenticeship into a 6 year.

CampRunamuck is going to be my musical fix for the year. That is if my finger heals to the point I can play guitar again. I haven't played for 2 months.

If I'm not too fried from Summer Reading Program, I'll come over after work on Saturday -- these bones may be too creaky for my tent but I'll throw it in. Or just the air mattress ...

JenEllen,

I'll give it a try... a ways off. I was sorry to have missed it last year and sure enjoyed the recordings. Going to the Kate Wolf fest that's shorty thereafter in California, so it may be a crunch, but I'll sure give it a try

Guest me;
I think you must mean Seattle Folklife? I was referring to Yakima's Folklife Festival in Central Washington. Granted, it's a little bit scattered and logistically a pain sometimes, but there's never been trouble (that I know of) with police and buskers. I'm sorry you had to go through something like that.

Dave;
For the 'ting-a-lings', you sing and he pirouettes. Sadly, he's not a very talented dancer, so it's basically the same move he uses during the 'dah-do-do-do-do-do' bit in Proud Mary.

Must be a different Folklife Festival. I saw a lot of buskers there last year.

am i the only person bothered that pacific northwest folk life began sending out cops to threaten and arrest buskers as of a few years ago. many performers, including me, depended on the busking money to go and perform as well as stay fot much of the weekend.

they sold the right to sell recordings to tower records then arrest any one selling their own stuff, but they wouldn't bother big groups just the solo performers as the cops were too cowardly to go after a band of five or six.

i think the whole thing is disgusting, i performed at folk life for six or seven years , now it's a festival only for the well off or people who live right in seattle

Hey all;

Well, this was STARTED as a reminder to get your paperwork in for folklife if'n you're going, not as the "Return to Runamuck". LOL

I do have that weekend free for a gathering, and will probably post something a little closer to the time to remind all you daddios and daddiettes to "Be there or be L-7 ska-ware".

~JE

PS: Thanks for the thoughts on the pooch. He's doing a lot better, and learning a new song for Valentines (if you sing: "when the moon hits yer eye like a big pizza pie" he barks: "amore"---sends me to the floor every time!)

Hey Jen, I'll be there. Also, are there going to be plans for a possible Spring Runamuck?

At this point it looks like I'm going to have memorial Day weekend free for the first time in 17 years. Just a thought.

PS. How's Angus doing?

Hey all;

Time once again to start thinking about festivals. Anyone who is interested in performing at Yakima's Folklife Festival can now find more information and applications at the Yakima Valley Folklife Website Applications are due in March, and as usual, it's first-come first-scheduled.

Also....
For those just interested in hanging out and playing music, we're having another run at Camp Runamuck that same weekend (July 12-13, 2003). The cabin is about 20 minutes from the festival site, so festival goers who want a place to camp are welcome too. Bring yer own doo-wop.
