Just saw the date and the Mrs and I are departing Vancouver BC for an Alaska Cruise on the 13th. At best, we could swing around byway of Yakima and Ellensburg and spend part of a day. I wish I could promise, but will have to leave it as a maybe.

Laurel, due to my job situation, I won't be at either spring or fall Strawberries. I still need about 1500 work hours before I can take my Journeyman exam,and I just can't afford the time off until I get that License. It's going to be strange as Strawberry has been a major part of my life for the last 17 years. But I've been laid off so much over the past 2 years that I'm turning a 4 year apprenticeship into a 6 year.

CampRunamuck is going to be my musical fix for the year. That is if my finger heals to the point I can play guitar again. I haven't played for 2 months.

they have an old fire engine there that looks a lot like
the tuna boat i am on...(1970's era International)
only it has a 10 gallon an hour leak from one of the
valves or something-not very encouraging for safety's sake!!

I think you must mean Seattle Folklife? I was referring to Yakima's Folklife Festival in Central Washington. Granted, it's a little bit scattered and logistically a pain sometimes, but there's never been trouble (that I know of) with police and buskers. I'm sorry you had to go through something like that.

For the 'ting-a-lings', you sing and he pirouettes. Sadly, he's not a very talented dancer, so it's basically the same move he uses during the 'dah-do-do-do-do-do' bit in Proud Mary.

am i the only person bothered that pacific northwest folk life began sending out cops to threaten and arrest buskers as of a few years ago. many performers, including me, depended on the busking money to go and perform as well as stay fot much of the weekend.

they sold the right to sell recordings to tower records then arrest any one selling their own stuff, but they wouldn't bother big groups just the solo performers as the cops were too cowardly to go after a band of five or six.

i think the whole thing is disgusting, i performed at folk life for six or seven years , now it's a festival only for the well off or people who live right in seattle

Hey all;

Time once again to start thinking about festivals. Anyone who is interested in performing at Yakima's Folklife Festival can now find more information and applications at the Yakima Valley Folklife Website Applications are due in March, and as usual, it's first-come first-scheduled.

Also....
For those just interested in hanging out and playing music, we're having another run at Camp Runamuck that same weekend (July 12-13, 2003). The cabin is about 20 minutes from the festival site, so festival goers who want a place to camp are welcome too. Bring yer own doo-wop.
