Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Amos Date: 23 Apr 03 - 09:57 AM You guys are kidding, right? I mean...it's April, guys!! The lilies are bloomin' and the swallows are revving up their engines. Cmawn! A-who-wears-shorts-now... |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: MMario Date: 23 Apr 03 - 09:59 AM Wish I were...(in Carrfickfergus...oops! I mean kidding) The poor little daffy-down-dillies in their yellow gowns were suffering a severe case of g*d's dandruff this am. Not much - but it's cold, and there *is* snow falling and blowing. |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: wysiwyg Date: 23 Apr 03 - 10:06 AM Hardi actually came back in the house this AM after leaving for work, just to ask me if I could see it too. Dang, I shouldda told him NO! ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Sorcha Date: 23 Apr 03 - 10:59 AM LOL! So sorry, Mario. It's finally turned to rain here....... |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Apr 03 - 12:15 PM But I've been mowing the lawn every week for the last month. Seems impossible to have snow anywhere but in the northern tier of states--but wait, New York IS in that northern tier, isn't it? (It snows 12 months of the year in Washington in some parts of it, though mostly higher elevations only from June through September). SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Burke Date: 23 Apr 03 - 02:10 PM On Monday, when I heard the forecast of 1-2" of snow today, I opined that they meant the Tug Hill Plateau. That's an area off Lake Ontario just west of the Adirondack that gets LOTS of snow. I was WRONG!! This is the Mohawk Valley and it hasn't even had the decency to melt right away. The trees are covered with beautiful, wet, sticky snow. The kind that even sticks to the sides of the trunks. I'm sick of it! |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 23 Apr 03 - 02:34 PM And here were us Brits basking in delightfully warm sunshine all day yesterday and today..... make you wish you were a colony again? (Joking!!) LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Mudlark Date: 23 Apr 03 - 03:12 PM Oy...snow! Makes me feel like a real wimp for complaining about the 15 mph wind chill factor when it's 62 outside. My little cuke and squash plants out in the garden look like they need mufflers, but they're hanging in there so far... Take heart, Mario...and don't let Mom Nature know her little joke irritates you...ignore her and maybe she'll let up and give spring a chance. |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Rapparee Date: 23 Apr 03 - 03:40 PM "All we are saying Is give Spring a chance...." Where are the warm Zephyrs of late April and May? It was 34 F here near Cincinnati this morning! Snow is simply NOT permitted -- I have to drive through the Rockies next week! |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: gnu Date: 23 Apr 03 - 06:03 PM GOSH the sunburn on my bald head feels good !!!! We may have snow (squalls) again but it'll just be a treat to sooth my sunburn !!! C'mon spring !!! |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Rapparee Date: 23 Apr 03 - 06:11 PM The radio said: "...frost warning tonight..." What I said isn't for polite company. |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: SINSULL Date: 23 Apr 03 - 06:17 PM i came home from work and had to turn the heat on. My sister in BUFFALO is bragging about her daffodils and I am freezing my butt off in Portland. Cold Cold Cold!!!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Giac Date: 23 Apr 03 - 06:42 PM Is this a bad time to note that my tomato and pepper plants are looking great? Some of the Cayenes have little buds on them. My lavender Iris are lovely, as are my petunias and pansies. And, my lone rose bush has near-bursting buds. Well, take heart, when you are basking in lovely weather, we will be sweltering down here. ~;o) - Mary |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Little Hawk Date: 23 Apr 03 - 07:41 PM Unbelievable isn't it? The nasty little white things were drifting down again last night, but not enough of them to last till morning. Ugh. The dachshunds were not pleased, and were coerced to go outdoors only with some difficulty. They are fair weather friends. - LH |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Peg Date: 24 Apr 03 - 02:06 AM we're getting a bit of snow tomorrow, too. I did some work on the garden last week (I have a plot in the Fenway Victory Gardens), got some seeds in and helped friends with a big yard get all the leaves from last fall raked. Gardening is frustrating this year but some of my fellow Fens gardeners are clinging to it stubbornly...it's nice to see the spring stuff coming up but I fear the cold will damage some flowers and maybe some fruit crops. And something is eating my hyacinths! |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 24 Apr 03 - 06:31 AM Two inches on the ground and it's still falling.... and I had just been celebrating the death knell of the glacier in my side yard. UGH! T.S. Eliot is right. April really is the cruelest month. |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 24 Apr 03 - 05:09 PM Of course the Daschunds are fair weather folk - if your gazongas were only 6 inches off the ground, YOU'D think twice about going in the snow..... Jamuary brings the snow, makes our feet and fingers glow. February's ice and sleet, freeze the toes right off your feet. March does something I can't remember..... April brings the sweet spring showers, on and on for hours and hours. Farmers fear unkindly May, frost by night and hail by day. June it rains and never stops, 30 days and spoils the crops. and so on..... LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: MMario Date: 24 Apr 03 - 06:42 PM okay - this is a little ridiculous. Skarpi - from ICELAND - PM'd me to say that it had been spring for six weeks already!!!!! sheesh... |

Subject: PY Spring '03 From: wysiwyg Date: 25 Apr 03 - 06:49 PM We filled the sitting pool today; it wintered over just fine left mostly filled and covered; seems to be holding water fine and as soon as the night freezes stop we'll hook up the filter. This is the earliest we've ever had it going, because in previous years we've not left it in place, filled, and it was great to fill it knowing that spring melt had filled the well, and that we were not risking going dry..... can't wait for it to warm up enough to get in there and work out. Spent the rest of the fine part of the day taking off the plow blade and putting on the mower deck, with Hardi doing the hard parts and me playing OR nurse with tools and retractors. Damn boidies were awfu' loud too. Greenest first growth of grass, warm sun in a cool breeze, and sweet smells.... periodically punctuated with priestly prayers over scraped knuckles. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: gnu Date: 10 May 03 - 08:12 AM SON-OF-A-PUP. This ain't that unusual for May, but it ain't normal neither ! I had the AC on in the truck just a few days ago. I mowed the lawn day before yesterday. The tulips are closed up and they'll be on the ground shortly. I can see a canary in my backyard maple and I swear it's frowning. |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Joe Offer Date: 10 May 03 - 03:09 PM We're 2,300 feet above sea level in the Sierra foothills in California, and we have beautiful spring weather - a littler wetter than usual, but gorgeous. Thursday, we took the dogs to the vet, who's at about 3,000 feet - and it was snowing that white, sticky stuff that sticks to all the trees. If was nice to take a 15-minute drive back into winter - and then to drive home again to spring. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: gnu Date: 10 May 03 - 09:22 PM My gosh it must be beautiful there. Round here, mountains are 2000' and above, but not by much, ie, it's flat. I go off all day and never venture + or - 100'.... seriously. But, it is beautiful in it's own way. |

Subject: RE: BS: SNOW-AGAIN!!!!! From: Hrothgar Date: 11 May 03 - 07:31 AM It will be getting bloody cold down in the Blue Mountains, Charley, but those people live in New South Wales, so who cares? :-) |
