Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 23 Jun 03 - 10:29 AM BTW - Richard Bridge keeps trying to find out who the girl was who seemed to take a shine to Royston at our BBQ - who was the lady who was paying so much attention to Richard on Saturday that it actually embarassed Val Hicks so much that she had to move (and pinch my chair) ? I must admit that I didn't think anything could embarass Val. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dead Horse Date: 23 Jun 03 - 02:02 PM Her Indoors was tickled pink to hear you all liked her hoofing. I taught her everything I know. (Then she went and got taught proper) Thanks to all concerned, and I will get to the FolkMob one day soon, I am a member, honest!!!! The highlight of the weekend for us was the "fire-walking act". Some unkind soul was, however, heard to remark "Throw another Woodsie on the fire" as the embers were settling....... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,Sheep - lover Date: 23 Jun 03 - 07:00 PM I have just heard there is one tent still camped on the field - could someone PLEASE go and tell them the weekend is over. See you all all soon |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,GUEST*confused* Date: 23 Jun 03 - 07:38 PM Yeah that was me!! I just got back. Why didn't you "no good son ofa folkys" wake me up. I woke up at 2pm this afternoon with the sun baking down on me head, thought I was back in the Foreign Legion in the Sahara. I poked me head out and was half licked to death by a very large Llama....... shit that was some punch I ain't never gonna trust another women, who tells me it's just juicy ;>) BTW who's got my green pants!!? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dipsodeb Date: 23 Jun 03 - 07:44 PM Forgot to say, yesterday when I was packing up the bar I found a tuner, capo and some picks. If anyone is missing them please PM me with some details and I will get them back to you somehow. I'm missing a dunlop trigger capo, if anyone has found it PM me. Debs |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,sue forde Date: 23 Jun 03 - 07:46 PM Arriving late on Wednesday night we saw the logs were burning bright amidst the flickering firelight yellow we found the gang relaxed and mellow. Woodsie and Graham the fire did stoke as Debs and Pat chilled in the smoke the music filled our hearts and head and Davie K. sloped off to bed. Thursday brought friends old and new Grant and Nat with bairns too that night our singing rose the dead and Davie K. sloped off to bed. Friday night with Sheilagh singing both our voices shrill and ringing Jim said "God that noise is dire" then flung himself upon the fire. Saturday lazing in the shade sipping beer and lemonade we might almost be in Devon kids and dogs in seventh heaven. A viking playing double bass with flaxon hair and fair a'face Dave Silk of his nuts a'sharing what a handsome suit he's wearing. Richards camera captures all he wants us for a photo call around the fire and all together basking in the glorious weather The marquees up the punch is ready Daves Knockholt knockout's strong and heady Pat and Debs have done us proud Joe Bazouki's singing loud. The party is going with a swing and Davie K. begins to sing in south Australia I was born who'll be up to greet the dawn? Auntie Olive at seventy nine takes a puff and feels so fine swigs Jack Daniels from the bottle it bucks her up and rev's her throttle. Mick is snoring to the beat of Dead Horses Misses flying feet Tequila slammers, punch and wine I've lost the plot but feeling fine. I try to sing but lose the knack I guess it's time to hit the sack so grab the dog and fall asleep and dream of vikings, nuts and sheep. Hope you all enjoyed yourself as much as we did and thanks to everyone who took home a bag of rubbish. The farmer was very pleased that we had a great time and the sheep expressed their relief that no revellers were wearing wellingtons. see you soon Sue and Mick. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 24 Jun 03 - 07:41 AM Perhaps we could get Jim to run a "Throwing oneself on the fire" workshop next year. It really demonstrated the tremendous power of Booze over Matter. Perhaps we should invite some politicians like Kim Howells to it .......... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 24 Jun 03 - 07:53 AM I think Pete Hicks has lost some things like that - perhaps not a capo. His were allegedly (at one stage) in a box. I found some of his picks Sunday on a log but some are still missing,. Can you describe and I'll check, he only lives the next village over. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 24 Jun 03 - 11:30 AM Nice song Sue, love the line " ... and Dave Kenningham sloped off to bed" |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: cockney Date: 24 Jun 03 - 06:51 PM We're all waiting for Keith Ferris' Knockholt Song - which at this very moment he is working on. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 24 Jun 03 - 07:14 PM The items lost by Pete Hicks in a box are a set of pitch pipes and his flatpicks. If anyone has them please PM me or post here. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dipsodeb Date: 25 Jun 03 - 06:01 AM That's the ones I found, they're on their way to you now Pete I posted them this morning. Debs :) |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 25 Jun 03 - 06:42 AM Streaky always has to forget something - it was his guitar stand at our charity ceilidh. Perhaps he get's distracted by Val's "assets" - I do sometimes. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,Soo the Gloo Date: 25 Jun 03 - 07:18 PM What a wonderful time you guys in England seem to have. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 26 Jun 03 - 08:16 AM Although it's not strictly connected with Knockholt, many of the people there came to our last barbecue. Therefore Linda and I would like to announce that the provisional date for the next one will be Sunday, 14th October (2pm onwards as usual). Sorry that it's so late in the season, (and apologies to anyone going to Bromyard) but we'll be at Walton-on-the-Naze festival the previous week. I'll start a new thread nearer the date. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Noreen Date: 26 Jun 03 - 08:36 AM Err Dave, which year would that be? 14th October is a Tuesday in 2003 :0) Whereas 14th September is a Sunday, clashing with Bromyard (when I am otherwise occupied). Have fun whenever it is. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: The Barden of England Date: 26 Jun 03 - 08:51 AM Quite right Noreen, unless Walton-on-Naze Festival has moved to October too. I hope not as I'm booked to do it! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Essex Girl Date: 26 Jun 03 - 09:31 AM Yes Noreen, you are correct. We are intending to have an 'end of summer ' barbecue on the 14th September. Dave has already started the two barrels of beer. Hope to see many of you there. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 26 Jun 03 - 09:41 AM Sorry - it must be the weather - I meant to say 14th Sept. Still it seemed to get everyone's attention. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: The Barden of England Date: 26 Jun 03 - 10:07 AM Missed the last one after being 'Folked' out, but do intend to show up at the next one, unless I'm gadding off 'sur le continent' on one of my cheap jollies. The last one looked a hoot! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: cockney Date: 26 Jun 03 - 06:55 PM looking forward to Dave's super BBQ and the Equiknockolt part two thw following week! |

Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: cockney Date: 26 Jun 03 - 07:14 PM Dave K - you're sposed to say something! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,Dave K Date: 26 Jun 03 - 07:24 PM Technology phew! What I meant to say was: Thanks Dave for the invite thank goodness it will be on the 14th September - I will be pleased to accept. October would be interesting though. What about another one in December? Will two barrels be enough. How come the Knockholt Knockolt went so quick - Was it a record??? especially mixed with the whatever was in the punch and the tequila slammers - who remembers Saturday night??? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: cockney Date: 26 Jun 03 - 07:25 PM knockholt KNOCKOUT |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,Dave K Date: 26 Jun 03 - 07:34 PM Before Dave corrects me as well - How can I remember - Yes it was the Knockholt KNOCKOUT - Just shows what an effect it had on me - I am still recovering. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: GUEST,Sean's mad mate Date: 27 Jun 03 - 07:21 PM Where's me can of Stella? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 27 Jun 03 - 07:25 PM There do seem to have been a few heads on the Sunday (!), but for my taste the Knockout was too sticky at the front and too spicey on the finish - nice-ish but not as good as the Old Spiney. And I am very suspicious that either the strength was undermarked or there was something else in it.... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dipsodeb Date: 28 Jun 03 - 06:20 AM Well Dave, was there someting else in it?? I don't think it very likely.. I think Dave is a purist when it comes to his beer. Maybe the strength was a little under estimated. Certainly not tampered with, I hope I misread your meaning Richard, I have often been accused of paranoia, so it's probably just me :,) |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Stringless Date: 28 Jun 03 - 07:11 AM Certainly tasted okay to me - or was it the tequila and punch that added that little bit extra. Certainly went quick enough - had to beg a tin of Stella from Sean's mate! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dead Horse Date: 28 Jun 03 - 05:11 PM Stella! As in "Sans Taste European Lackluster Liquid Alliance"? Dont let DB hear ya talking dirty............. I loved the Old Spikey but had to water it down with lemonade before I fell over. Moby Slick (the Great White Snail) made it all the way back home, where it is causing panic among the neighbours. They think Travellers have moved in, and are locking up their valuables, pets, children, etc. I might take it to work and put it through the bus-wash in order to give it some air of respectability before it forays out to Broadstairs. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 Aug 03 - 07:24 AM Is it correct there is another on the weekend 5 to 7 Sept? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 26 Aug 03 - 07:36 AM I think it's on the 19th - 21st, the wekend after our barbecue on the 24th. Try PMing Woodsie or you can email him |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 Aug 03 - 08:45 AM Checking. Depending on weekend there may be a posse (no puns please) attending! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: The Barden of England Date: 26 Aug 03 - 10:27 AM Bugger it - If it's the weekend of 19th - 21st I'll be at the Solent Folk Festival. I hope it's either before or after. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 Aug 03 - 01:38 PM Er-Dave, I just noticed. Your barbie on the 14th I think |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 27 Aug 03 - 06:43 AM Refresh - has anyone definitely got the date? I've also just been told Wolfshead and Vixen Morris may be going. Does anyone know if that's true? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 27 Aug 03 - 05:00 PM I've had confirmation dates definite 19-21 Sept |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 15 Sep 03 - 10:37 AM Refresh - Don't forget this next weekend - I've got some of my beer left over from the BBQ to donate. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 15 Sep 03 - 05:58 PM And I think the beer from the barbie was better than the June one, and better than the last Knockholt, and alas I have to be in Nottingham (probably) or attending my mother-in-law's royal command birthday lunch! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Dave Bryant Date: 17 Sep 03 - 04:42 AM I have racked, blended, and repressurised the beer left over from the BBQ - there's about 3/4 barrel - it tastes good. Have decided to rename it: "Knockers" Will probably bring it up with the caravan on Thursday - it shouldn't need to settle as it's now "bright". |
Subject: RE: Knockholt, Kent (festival) From: Richard Bridge Date: 17 Sep 03 - 01:24 PM Well the Lord moves in mysterious ways. It now is definite(ish) I won't need to be in Nottingham Thursday night, and very likely I won't need to be in Nottingham Friday night, although I may need to be running a big sound rig in Gravesend Saturday Night. So I might see that beer again before I die! |
