Alright, alright, I admit it, I was trying to get your attention. Is it just me, or is anyone else fed up with every song imaginable being attributed as "Irish". It seems that no matter what is said, written or even exhaustively researched by Bruce, this perception remains amongst even contributors to this site. cf Mary's sic wedding request.

Grrrrrr!!!!

Pete M feeling grumpy. (Grumpy is feeling happy about it, happy is - oh god how did I get into this?)

I saw the correction posted to the Mary's (sic) thread and decided not to let it bother me.

Sandy

PS Do you have a translation for the Irish song:

Thaie mhe cahanga rhu dhuon sphuirt.

If there's one thing I hate more than seeing every song ascribed to us Irish - it's seeing them described as "Celtic"!.

Regards

p.s. We're a grumpy lot, this holiday season, aren't we?

I'm sure certain more modern C&W songs are of Scottish origin. I'm sure I heard this in Glasgow years ago:

"Mental! Mental fur being sae lanely..." And I think the singer followed it with:

"Gree-ee-ee-ee-tin', ower yeee...!
