Subject: Origins: Irish jig 'green gates' From: GUEST,Egal Date: 28 May 03 - 06:46 AM I wonder if anyone can help; i've just tabbed out the tune "Green gates" for the banjo and i'm going to submit it to the "Tabledit" collection. I would like to add some information regarding the origins of this tune? I've tried google but to no avail. |

I know the reel but had not come accross a (slip) jig by that name. From Fiddlers Companion we get: GREEN GATES, THE [2]. AKA and see "The Barony Jig," "The Fisherman's Jig," "Redican's Mother," "Trealock Lauder." Irish, Slip Jig. D Major. Standard. Usually known as "Redican's Mother." Green Linnet SIF 1119, Cherish the Ladies - "The Back Door." |
