La historia es muy rara, en realidad parece ser que Carl Colpaert (director del film) escuchó el tema en un bar de San Telmo, Buenos Aires, Argentina... y quedó impresionado. Le pidió la partitura a mi padre, en esa época un jóven jazzista. La interpretación no solo es tan una parte del tema original, sino que no fue reproducida en la pelicula por su compositor.

I remember watching this film many years ago, very late one night on terrestrial television over here in the UK. I was probably about 16 or something like that and despite feeling that the film was pretty rubbish and I was very tired and wanted to go to bed I felt that I had to stay up and wait for the credits to find the name of that unforgettable tune which I now know to be Carnavalito Tango. I remember writing it down and keeping that scrap of paper for years because I didn't want to be unable to hear that song again.

For some unknown reason over ten years later the name popped into my head today and a quick google later here I am but I can't seem to find anything else on the internet about carnavalito tango or even much info about the film.

This song was so beautiful and there are a couple of other posts I've found which mention similar stories so this is obviously not a one off. Has anybody had any luck in getting hold of the music or even a copy of the film? I would love to hear that music again.

Put Aftermath in the search box, make sure the "movie" button is selected. A few movies by that name show up, but the 1980 one looks right. John Morgan composed the music.

Angeles - I'm sure you are right - but the name of this specific piece was definitely Carnavalito Tango - I remember reading it on the credits at the end of the film. Maybe the composer wrote a tango in the style of carnavalito ?

If you can help us identify the movie then we can probably find out the tune very easily. What was the movie about, specifically, who was in it, and whatever else you can tell us about it. There are sites on the internet which list movies and also their music.

The Carnavalito is an argentinian folk tune from the north area (Jujuy province), this is NOT tango. The tango born in Buenos Aires city, located very far from north area with an opposite music style.

This is the name of a tune used in an eighties(?) science fiction film - post-apocalyptic, with some (at the time) innovative use of combined live action/animation.Damned if I can remember what it was called...
