We'll be visiting Scotland this summer and would love to find some great Celtic music to hear in pubs, concerts, whatever. We'll be in Edinburgh June 28, 29, 30; on Mull July 1, 2, 3; and on Islay on July 6, 7, 8 and 9. If anyone can point us in the direction of great music, thanks!

visit alba folk site for info. When in Edinburgh pick up "the gig guide" full of all kinds of music info. recommend the Wee folk club and Sandy Bells.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have looked through the related threads, and found some good possibilities -- including the Central Bar, whose proprietor has the same last name as my husband... I'll keep checking back to see if someone has the perfect suggestion for us, but in the meanwhile, I'll follow up on these leads.

Thanks!

If you want you can try this link as well. It has a Folk/World Music section and covers Glasgow, Edinburgh and other areas. It may help!
Enjoy your Trip.

Try the Taybank in Dunkeld. Dunkeld is a very nice town on the road between Inverness and Edinburgh. I spent a pleasant evening last summer in the pub playing fiddle tunes. Apparently it has new owners now, but the concerts and sessions should continue.

"Dunkeld, Perthshire is the home of The Taybank. Situated on the banks of the beautifull river Tay, it looks across the river to Birnam Hill, site of the ruins of King Duncan's Castle (made famous in William Shakespeare's "Macbeth"). Previously owned by local singer songwriter and composer, the internationally acclaimed Dougie MacLean and his wife Jennifer, The Taybank is now owned by Nigel and Beverley Large. Described as "Scotland's Musical Metting Place" it is a centre for Scottish Music and Culture with instrumental classes, concerts and spontaneous music sessions."

Cheers, S. in Seattle
