Subject: RE: Maddox, Thurmond, etc. From: Stilly River Sage Date: 29 Jun 03 - 05:00 PM We do have "Code Red" ozone levels today in the Fort Worth/Dallas area. Perhaps there's a connection? Burning toxic materials is bound to have some toxic results. |

Subject: RE: Maddox, Thurmond, etc. From: Bill D Date: 29 Jun 03 - 06:20 PM "God seems to have finally gotten around to cleaning out the rats' nest" if a geenuwyne "God" with half the sense of a retarded rubbed duck had been involved, the rats would not have HAD all that influence. WE have to quit electing them.. |

Subject: RE: Maddox, Thurmond, etc. From: GUEST Date: 29 Jun 03 - 07:48 PM Some here might be interested in this article over at Alternet. It makes a nice antidote to all the nice and polite 'New South' spin being put on these deaths: |

Subject: RE: Maddox, Thurmond, etc. From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 29 Jun 03 - 07:58 PM Not healthy for anyone to hang around in office as long as Thurmond did (shades of J Edgar Hoover who headed the FBI for about 50 years). I'd have thought the USA would have tackled this, as it did with presidents. But didn't Thurmond move off his segragationalist line some time after his disgraceful opposition to LBJ's reforms? If so, I'm willing to give him some credit for that. The real worry - and Bill D put his finger on it - is those who continue to revere the Thurmond of the 40s, 50s and 60s. Not least Trent Lott. What kind of people vote a guy like that into high office? |
