Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Mrrzy Date: 02 Jul 19 - 11:20 AM Ooh, did we manage to lose the other three fourths? Sigh. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: gillymor Date: 02 Jul 19 - 12:45 PM I'll go out and watch the fireworks at the city pier because I like big fireworks displays but to me this hardly seems like a time for celebration when you consider the greedy, racist scoundrels who are running this country. Now is the time for all good (persons) to come to the aid of their country and eradicate this vermin (i.e. vote them out). |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: robomatic Date: 03 Jul 19 - 02:10 AM I've heard we're not having fireworks because we're having brush fires right in town. While we love fireworks we're in the height of the summer long days, so what we mostly miss is the smell of the gunpowder. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: robomatic Date: 03 Jul 19 - 11:22 AM Since it is presently the 3rd of July only, I feel it is fitting to link to that worthwhile document by well known liberal, jurist, philosopher, atheist, champion of the rights of all people, Jeremy Bentham and his "A Short Review of The Declaration". I believe Jeremy Bentham, or more properly, his 'auto-icon' is still on exhibit at University College London, although it was apparently loaned to New York during 2018. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Mossback Date: 03 Jul 19 - 05:38 PM The National Park Service will divert about $2.5 million in fees gathered from park-goers to help pay for the hefty costs of President Donald Trump’s Fourth of July celebration https://www.huffpost.com/entry/national-park-service-25-million-trump-fourth-of-july_n_5d1c1e53e4b082e55371cd79 'A narcissistic travesty': critics savage Trump's Independence Day jamboree https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jul/03/donald-trump-fourth-of-july-parade-speech-independence-day |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: beardedbruce Date: 03 Jul 19 - 07:12 PM So, Mossback, the NPS will be spending $2.5 million this year. In previous years, they spent $2.0 million for cleanup EACH YEAR. What with the promised #Resistance, that previously has caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages, they added $500,000. You have some kind of problem with tax dollars being used to clean up the mess you and your ilk are causing???? |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: beardedbruce Date: 03 Jul 19 - 07:24 PM SRS, "Tanks and infantry vehicles will be on static display near the Lincoln Memorial, trucked in to prevent their treads from damaging the streets." |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: beardedbruce Date: 03 Jul 19 - 07:29 PM "By comparison, according to former Park Service deputy director Denis P. Galvin, the entire Fourth of July celebration on the Mall typically costs the agency about $2 million. One thing that taxpayers won’t have to foot the bill for is the extra fireworks. Two private companies have donated equipment and labor worth $750,000." http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/07/everything-we-know-about-trumps-july-4th-event.html |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Mossback Date: 03 Jul 19 - 10:16 PM No, Brucie, the Park Service will be spending an ADDITIONAL 2.5 million over what they normally spend to feed Trump's ego- funds normally spent for maintenance & the like. Go easy with the alternative facts- and good night. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Mrrzy Date: 04 Jul 19 - 11:21 AM Down the British! Up the rebels! |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: beardedbruce Date: 04 Jul 19 - 12:25 PM Wrong again Mossback. NPS has budgeted 2.5 vs 2 in previous years. Try actually using facts instead of your usual lies. .. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: keberoxu Date: 04 Jul 19 - 02:35 PM Indeed, the preceding reminds me of the fireworks at the traveling carnival in my childhood hometown. That is to say, the fireworks that were duds: no pretty display, all smoke and BOOOOM. next! |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Jeri Date: 04 Jul 19 - 03:31 PM It's money in addition to what was already budgeted, stolen from NPS. From CNN Politics Washington (CNN)The National Park Service will redirect nearly $2.5 million to help cover costs related to President Donald Trump's July 4 extravaganza in Washington, DC, money that is usually "primarily intended to improve parks across the country," The Washington Post reported Tuesday. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Jeri Date: 04 Jul 19 - 04:30 PM Actually, the administration refuses to say what the total cost is expected to be. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: beardedbruce Date: 04 Jul 19 - 04:53 PM And in previous years they redirected $2.0 million. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Jeri Date: 04 Jul 19 - 06:08 PM No, they didn't. I'm starting to think you know you're lying, but can't stop. People should just stop reading your shit. Well, I should. Cost of Trump's July 4th |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: beardedbruce Date: 04 Jul 19 - 06:27 PM Did you even read my post of 3 July 7:29 pm? |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Bill D Date: 04 Jul 19 - 10:10 PM Money from previous years was not 'redirected' from other sources like the Park Service.... This year the 2+ million was extra.... the donations not withstanding. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: gillymor Date: 05 Jul 19 - 05:25 AM What right do we as taxpayers have to know how President Bonehead spends our money? I hope he had fun playing with his "brand new Sherman tanks" yesterday. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: beardedbruce Date: 05 Jul 19 - 06:13 AM BillD If your interpretation is correct, can you tell me the total NPS spent this year as opposed to previous years? Historically the NPS has been spending about 2 million a year, much on cleanup. The report I heard on the radio was that thi year the NPS was spending 2.5 million, and the source of the funds was from monies collected at all parks LIKE in previous years. Perhaps I have been misinformed, So what did the NPS spend this year as opposed to previous years? |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Jeri Date: 05 Jul 19 - 10:56 AM Bruce, you theoretically should know how to use Google. Answer your own question. For the record, I found out, but you need to be able to find your own answer. If all anyone is doing is lobbing a personal attack, don't bother. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: beardedbruce Date: 05 Jul 19 - 12:38 PM And then you delete my comment. True liberal way to win the arguement. Make accusations and then prevent the person from answering them. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: beardedbruce Date: 05 Jul 19 - 12:39 PM Happy Fourth! |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: gillymor Date: 05 Jul 19 - 06:49 PM If anyone is still unaware of just how truly stupid Trump is here's an excerpt from the speech he delivered yesterday in front of a fenced off Jefferson Memorial and attended by ticket holders: "In June of 1775, the Continental Congress created a unified Army out of the Revolutionary Forces encamped around Boston and New York, and named after the great George Washington, commander in chief. The Continental Army suffered a bitter winter of Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware and seized victory from Cornwallis of Yorktown. "Our Army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry, under the rocket’s red glare it had nothing but victory. And when dawn came, their star-spangled banner waved defiant." The bombardment of Ft. McHenry of course occurred during the War of 1812. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Jeri Date: 05 Jul 19 - 07:38 PM I don't know how one mans the air, but I love the part about taking over the airports. And the army, named after George Washington...huh? There's been speculation that he might've had a problem reading the teleprompter, but the fact that he needed one is pretty scary. |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: Mrrzy Date: 05 Jul 19 - 08:18 PM Wonder what they meant for him to say, if it *was* the teleprompter? |
Subject: RE: Happy 4th of July From: gillymor Date: 06 Jul 19 - 12:41 PM Maybe Twitler was right. |
