Subject: BS: Hey Canadians! Can Marion visit you? From: Marion Date: 14 Jul 03 - 12:23 AM So I've decided to start my busking trip with a tour of Canada, eh? The plan is to get a bus pass from mid-August to mid-October. From Ottawa I'll head east through Montreal and visit New Brunswick and Nova Scotia including Cape Breton; I probably won't go to Newfoundland, and I'm not sure about PEI. I'll then double back, see my friends and family in Ontario again, then head west to Vancouver before crossing into the states. Other than spending some time in Winnipeg, I don't have much of an agenda for where to go on my way west. So... if there are Mudcatters along the way in towns that have bus service that would like to meet up, please post or PM me. Cheers, Marion |

Subject: RE: BS: Hey Canadians! Can Marion visit you? From: Rick Fielding Date: 14 Jul 03 - 10:31 AM Scrap the West! You MUST go to Newfoundland. While other memories have faded, my trips to the Rock are as vivid in my mind as if they were yesterday. Love Rick |

Subject: RE: BS: Hey Canadians! Can Marion visit you? From: Willie-O Date: 14 Jul 03 - 12:24 PM Good plan Marion. I second Rick's sentiments, and add, PEI is also a must. Closer too. Great music scene and an underappreciated fiddling centre. Rick, how ya doin? Bill |

Subject: RE: BS: Hey Canadians! Can Marion visit you? From: Marion Date: 17 Jul 03 - 02:13 AM Thanks Hesperis. I do expect to go through TO on the way west, but I would most likely stay with K and S. I'll let you know, though. Are you still looking for a new room? Rick, how many copies do you have to sell in PEI for a record to be considered a hit? Yeah, Willie-O, I'll probably go to PEI. I can't say no to a redhead... Gnu, I'll go through NB twice; roughly late August then again mid September. Where do you live? Perhaps I can see you for a few minutes if you're on the way. Thanks, Marion |

Subject: RE: BS: Hey Canadians! Can Marion visit you? From: hesperis Date: 18 Jul 03 - 02:24 AM I'm still looking, but found out that I can get a special diet allowance, so am actually getting enough from the gov now that I can pay a lowball "normal" rent and still eat. Which rather helps when looking for a room I can afford that won't make me sick. *Smile* |

Subject: RE: BS: Hey Canadians! Can Marion visit you? From: Willie-O Date: 19 Jul 03 - 10:19 AM "Gnu, I'll go through NB twice;" If Tourism New Brunswick had a loonie for everyone with travel plans like that, they could fix the Reversing Falls! What New Brunswick needs is more speed bumps. Fixing the Trans Canada there was a big mistake... "I can't say no to a redhead..." Huh? |

Subject: RE: BS: Hey Canadians! Can Marion visit you? From: Rick Fielding Date: 19 Jul 03 - 10:27 AM Hi Marion. According to Boot Records (Canada's premier Country label at the time) NONE. By the time they noticed that I was getting a ton of airplay (song for Charlie) it was too late to ship the 45s. Cheers Rick |

Subject: RE: BS: Hey Canadians! Can Marion visit you? From: Marion Date: 22 Jul 03 - 12:06 PM Hi Gnu! Yes, I did just see your PM, thanks. Sorry for the delay, I was away for a little bit. Mud? No, I am of course meaning that I couldn't say no to my beloved Anne Shirley (or Meagan Follows, for that matter). Rick, then I guess I've got a hit record in PEI too. Cool. Marion |

Subject: RE: BS: Hey Canadians! Can Marion visit you? From: Marion Date: 16 Aug 03 - 12:13 AM Yay, I've got the Canadian portion of my trip all planned and booked. From August 19 to October 17: Perth ON Montreal Trois-Rivieres Quebec Gaspe Fredericton Saint John Charlottetown Curryville NB Kingston NS Whycocomagh CB then long trip back to: Perth ON Toronto Simcoe Sault St. Marie Thunder Bay Lac du Bonnet, MB Winnipeg Saskatoon Edmonton Whitehorse Prince George Jasper Banff Victoria Vancouver Pretty long list, eh? The scheduling's pretty tight; but when I get into the states I'll take a less planned approach since I don't have as many real life friends that I have to go see, and I don't have to cover a certain amount of ground before running out of bus pass. Take care, Marion |
