You may recall long since a Song Challenge concerning a group dedicated to the Liberation of Garden Gnomes.

It appears they were too slow for too long.

According to this story, the garden gnomes are now taking matters into their own hands and striking back....

will check out the links in a sec but I was sure that gnomes were taking over when I was in Devon and Cornwall on me hols - everywhere I went were brown signs pointing to the gnome reserve

Jeri - I don't know if you are truly gifted or truly sick - that site is wonderful!! I loathe gnomes in every form, especially the little minature ones you get for indoor pot plants..... my mother on the other hand, loved them and it was my job to paint her collection every spring so they could be fresh and "lovely" for the summer. I made a point of making them look either as garish as possible, as bland as possible, or one great year, all shades of a particularly nasty blue.

Of course, the day she discovered she could make her own out of plaster/concrete powder and a rubber mould, my life became hell and I decided to leave as soon as humanly possible.

I formed a particulalry strong loathing for one cheerfully bearded little bastard with a squeezebox.... obviously an omen for my future life.

ahem.

I just want to state, although Gnomes have indeed been spotted around the Warwick Archery Range - and the Owners daughter Esmeralda has a known aversion for gnomes - the arrow penetrating the gnome in the link posted by Jeri is most definately does NOT belong to the Archers of Warwick. Beside which, Esmeralda would use a whip.

Cute little gnomes have nothing at all on quilters' Sunbonnet Sue. Some quilters don't seem to like poor Sue , feeling that she's usually somewhat unrealistic and unworldly.

I understand from friends in Alaska that up in Gnome there's one of RB Fuller's geodesic gnomes. It is, of course, covered over and they play basketball gnomes there, the announcer calling out the player's gnomes as they come on the floor.

At the University of Alaska, Gnome, as in many other academic institutions, researchers are working on gnomenclature in the human g-nome project. They've had some remarkable breakthroughs and expect that their campus will be gnome world-wide soon. Yes, indeed, some of the scientists are really making a gnome for themselves.

(I'd go gnome if I wasn't already there....)

Do they ever have concerts in the Geodesic Gnome? Is it like the Millennium Gnome in London? They could stage the Rolling Gnomes followed by the Pixie Chicks, or one of the Philhargnomic orchestras.....
