Subject: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: GUEST,Boab D Date: 26 Jul 03 - 01:40 PM Hello all, I was just reading through the thread on Ozzy and it got me thinking about the stuff and excess that he has done in his time. Now the truth is that he must be one of the over indulgers of this life if not the biggest then certainly one of the best. But the thing I would like to know is who in your oppinion is the biggest Caligulaist( dodgy word but you get my meaning). For me obviously Ozzy and obviously the guy from Motley Crew Nicky Styx who has died thrice and he's still here, amazingly. So who is your all time favourite Dylan |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Jul 03 - 01:45 PM Well damn........Always thought "debauchery" was having your bauch removed. What a relief! At least that's one operation I won't have to have!!! Thanks!!!!!!! Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: GUEST,Boab D Date: 26 Jul 03 - 02:02 PM Well to be honest if they could get you to pay for it I'm sure they would make one up and tell you it was in need of removal. But unfortunately they wouldn't call it "debauchery" they would call it a "bauchectomy" Dylan |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: katlaughing Date: 26 Jul 03 - 06:09 PM I think you were de-botched quite young, Spaw and just don't remember. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: Sorcha Date: 26 Jul 03 - 06:17 PM Who was the guy that bit the heads off live chickens? He gets my vote. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: Rapparee Date: 26 Jul 03 - 07:24 PM Diane "Dee" Bauchery lived down the block when I was growing up. She started out as a dumpy, dishwater-blonde kid, but grew up to be a dumpy dishwater-blonde adult. She was pretty bright though, and was the first one in the 'hood to figure out the birds and the bees -- that even though they could both fly they really were quite different critters. Ol' Dee was quite a gal -- she could catch more fish, hit a softball farther, shoot more rabbits, cut down more firewood, split more rails, and read more books than anyone else on the block, excluding adults of course. I lost track of her in the '60s when she went off to college, but I heard rumors that she eventually got a doctorate in astrophysics. That would have been the only PhD in astrophysics any who grew up there received; there were English, Mathematics, Logic, Computer Science, Theoretical Physics, Information Science, Theology, and Theatre, but only one Astrophysics. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: The Walrus Date: 26 Jul 03 - 08:51 PM I thought Madame de Bauchery was one of the Mistresses of Louis XIV of France. Confused Walrus |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: GUEST,Bocce, the Italian bowler Date: 26 Jul 03 - 09:06 PM and all you can think of, Boab, is rock musicians? Pretty sheltered life! None of those appraoch Caligula, who was truly debauched. Or do you not mean 'debauched', but merely publicly garish and ostentatiously tasteless? Correct use of language is important if you want good answers. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: Rapparee Date: 26 Jul 03 - 11:23 PM Oh, I don't know...Messelina had her moments. Elizabeth Bathory had hers, too. And there's always the Marquise de Montespan, and what was her name? de Voissins, I think. And Ilsa Koch. They make modern "debauchees" look like poseurs. "...all they will call you will be debauchee." No, I don't think I want to think about parodying "Deportee." |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: GUEST,Boab D Date: 27 Jul 03 - 02:24 AM Bocce, I'm sure I mentioned Caligula in my opening message and I'm not really sheltered at all. It does seem however that these days it is only rock stars who get totally f*&^%d up and the world gets to know about it. Since the demise of the Oliver Reed and Peter O'Toole no one seems to have taken over the mantle in the acting world. Boudicca was also one who knew ,or didnt know, what she was doing however I dont think she classed it as debauchery. There have obviously been historical figures who have gone beyond the call and died in the process while now what you have is a new breed and a new type of person who can go out and do what they want but dont really choose to. Dylan |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: GUEST Date: 27 Jul 03 - 01:52 PM There are plenty of people besides rock stars who can wear the mantle, but the PR spinners do a good job of hiding the facts from us. I think anyone who has married the daughters of Prince Ranier of Monaco might qualify, though I don't know how good they are at what they do (ahem). A whole lot of politicians would qualify. As to actors, the media image of most are too managed and sanitized, but one must not forget those whose indisgressions did, despite the publicist's best intentions, make their way into the public awareness, like Rob Lowe and Matther McConaughey. One must also remember that debauchery is one of the defining characteristics of (drugs, sex, and) rock and roll, which makes it the status quo in that realm, doesn't it. Rock musicians really don't do much of a job of it, really, and rarely reach the levels set historically by the masters (some of whom have been mentioned here). |

Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: katlaughing Date: 27 Jul 03 - 05:40 PM Last I knew Peter O'Toole was still alive. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: GUEST,Boab D Date: 27 Jul 03 - 06:02 PM Sorry Kat. He probably is? I was thinking of Richard Harris. But dont you think they're quite simmilar? Gargoyle its not a question of religion dissagreeing with witchcraft but simply a question of who is getting fu*()!d up the most. In reality do you think that the great religions would not sanctify this kind of activity( or even the not so great ones)? No of course they wouldnt. But nowadays there are only a few who really live on the edge. Dylan |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Jul 03 - 08:43 PM The difference between Richarg Harris and Peter O'Toole is that only one of them has a double phallic name. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Who 'is' debauchery From: Cluin Date: 28 Jul 03 - 02:30 PM Aleister Crowley. Shit, it was his religion, non?... spiritual enlightenment thru overindulgence. |
