Myself, and a few like-minded friends will be visiting the Isle of Arran for a couple of weeks in mid August. Apart from our usual take-over of the local pub does anyone know of any other sessions, ceilidhs etc?

Well, it has a folk festival, but you've just missed that - this year's line up

Sorry, I don't know much about what might be on in August but I'm bumping it for someone who might.

There is a big Midge Festival on Arran for August. Most venues on the island.

I think I attended that one last year Greg! but it's really the little buggers you have to look out for. Luckily we will be at Kildonan which is on the shore and the only 'wildlife' we have are seals.

We were in a cottage on Arran nearly twenty years ago,so my info is not exactly up to date, but back then there was something on in one or the other of the hotels every night.Usully local singers and musos who were being paid to do the 'Traditional Scottish'thing and welcomed any one who came in with an instrument as it meant that they could do something different without endangering the gig.
We had a great time as it IS a lovely island and some of the music was great fun.
                Go and enjoy yourselves.
