Subject: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: Red and White Rabbit Date: 24 Aug 03 - 10:10 AM I have heard that MCFAT won the Whitby leg of the duel but that The Marquis de Stainsby or wherever he is from wants a stewards enquiry - I have now missed two of the duels but I understand this one was brilliant so many thanks Jude for the extra work organising it Since it has been a draw and then a victory for MCFAT is there any chance of organising a thrid leg that I might sctually get to see - perhsp it could be a Yorkshire Lincolnshire duel or Scotland England match? |

Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: old git Date: 24 Aug 03 - 12:35 PM don't care where or what as long as it's in front of a non partisan audience! in spite of the fact that we wus robbed..it was great fun! |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: smallpiper Date: 24 Aug 03 - 01:19 PM I did not witness the duel but I have heard reports that would turn a man's blood cold! Yes I was present in the Tap and Spile when the landlady returned from witnessing the said duel.... her trauma was such that she volunteered to climb the mast of the Grand Turk (mmmm stop being smutty boys remember smutty boys are lonely boys) and she gets dizzy just standing on a chair! She is a changed woman now.... she did it, yep, she did! She climbed the rigging all 100 feet of it! |

Yep well done Sherry - I wouldnt have done it Old git - I am told you are moaning because you dont have anyfriends to support you - is this true - it might get the sympathy vote you know? |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: old git Date: 25 Aug 03 - 06:36 AM I certainly could have done with somebody to support me at various times last week......that Broadside should not be taken lightly!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: gnomad Date: 25 Aug 03 - 09:25 AM OG had various people to support him, and a fine fight he made of it. I think he just underestimated MCFat's determination to nobble the jury. I am still awaiting sight of the victors report (since history is always written by the victors) but I think Sir R-Tash may be otherwise engaged. I last saw Raggytash back at the scene of battle masquerading as a clergyman and attempting to conduct a marriage between a clearly reluctant groom and a lady I believe to have been already wed. As this was during the hours of darkness, and as I suspect that the premises are not licenced for this purpose, I have no great hopes of the marriage, still you've got to hand it to the lad, he does keep busy. |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: Raggytash Date: 25 Aug 03 - 07:30 PM EXCUSE ME ! No nobbling of any description took place, (neither The Noble Lord or my good self have have that sort of resources, unlike when only two judge presided, when I must admit we did try). The result was the fine accurate judgement of the assembled aristoracy of folk afficonados who have the discearning ear to recognise quality when they hear it. As for the allegation that I was masquerading as a clergyman, I will have you know that my ordination cost $15.00 !!! As the powers vested in me allow me to conduct said ceremonies, the unfortunate and unwilling groom is married whether he likes it or not. I have not yet received my fee, but for a nominal (extra) sum I would be prepared to do divorces PS PLease do not spread the knowledge of my ordination too far as I do not know what this may do to my reputation as the stud of Whitby. |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: Dave Bryant Date: 26 Aug 03 - 05:04 AM The duel didn't turn my blood cold, which was a pity as the back bar was like a sauna ! Some good singing though, I have to admit that the best man/men won - even though I was trying to show a bias the other way. Will try and sort out the photos which I took. |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: GUEST Date: 26 Aug 03 - 08:05 AM Raggy - you never told me that you were ordained MCFAT and I could have done with you for our wedding - it unfortunately never took place this week due to lack of time and commitment can you do us a discount rate for divorces and weddings? |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: old git Date: 02 Sep 03 - 06:45 AM and a special rate for bigamous and trigamous and quadramous...etc...etc...etc.............could be a bit of a chorus when you got to "If anyone knows of just cause why......." |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: Red and White Rabbit Date: 02 Sep 03 - 01:51 PM well I make sure no one who might object is at my weddings!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: old git Date: 02 Sep 03 - 06:24 PM except perhaps for the groom! |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: Dave Bryant Date: 03 Sep 03 - 04:24 AM Perhaps the chorus would come in on the "I do" bit. |
Subject: RE: BS: Whitby Duel - MCFAT - OLD Git From: Red and White Rabbit Date: 06 Sep 03 - 02:54 AM well a girl has to keep her options open these days!! |
