I received this e-mail from a music list I'm on -- can any Mudcatters provide insight on the singer & song?

I don't know the song, but was it about the "ice boats" that carried the mail from Nova Scotia & New Brunswick to P.E.I?
These were not ice boats as we know them today. When the Northumberland Strait would become clogged with drift ice, brave souls would row these boats over the open water and then drag them over the ice flows. In the early days this was the only escape from total isolation during P.E.I. winters.
It seems a great subject for a song!

Well, I found this song was a poem by Wendell Boyle, and Kerri Wynne MacLeod's recording - Moon Upon the Left. She's a lovely singer from PEI!

I spoke to her by e-mail, and she said that it could have been her you might have heard.

You can contact her for the recording Moon Upon the Left, which has the Ice Boat Song on it.
