Owed to the Spell Checker

I have a spelling checker --
It came with my PC
It plane lee marks four my revue
Miss steaks aye can knot sea.

Eye ran this poem threw it,
Your sure real glad two no.
Its very polished in it's weigh,
My checker tolled me sew.

A checker is a bless sing,
It freeze yew lodes of thyme.
It helps me right awl stiles two reed,
And aides me when aye rime.

To rite with care is quite a feet
Of witch won should be proud.
And we mussed dew the best wee can,
Sew flaws are knot aloud.

And now bee cause my spelling
Is checked with such grate flare,
Their are know faults with in my cite,
Of none eye am a wear.

Each frays come posed up on my screen
Eye trussed to bee a joule
The checker poured o'er every word
To cheque sum spelling rule.

That's why aye brake in two averse
By righting wants to pleas,
Sow now ewe see why eye dew prays
Such soft wear for pea seas!

All Netscape's spell checker objected to was "o'er". I wonder why - maybe they didn't program in any poetry?

MMario - MS-Word must be set for American english.

Wolfgang - what is yours set to read?

my favourite at work was Devilish for Devenis (my colleague's surname)

Try spell-checking Welsh with an English spell-checker. Hours of fun.

I ran the words of Gaudete through a spellchecker.... rather like the idea of a bandicoot domino..

Bill D,
would appreciate if you have links to previous relevant postings - it's a little dificult to guess what would be reasonable search criteria...

BTW
The nice little Queensland town of Toowoomba, for some reason wants to become "Tearooms" in my spellchecker (I use EditPlus).

Thanks
Robin

search criteria was "four my revue" which seemed like a phrase likely to be in most versions...

(It really IS cute & clever...but cute & clever things get posted here a lot, due to the wide ranging knowlege of our members...and I'd bet it gets posted again sometime.~)

Hehehehe - What a way to liven up a dull Friday afternoon:-)

Just took Liz'z notion and ran Gaudette through the spell checker. Here is the result.

Gaudier, gaudier! Christies eat notes
Ex Maria virgin: Gaudier!

Tempus adept granite, Hoc quid opt bemuse
Carmine latitude Devote renames.

Deus homo fact us eat Natural migrant,
Mendes renovates eat A Chris to regnant.

Ezekiel's portal clause per transitory
Under Luck eat rota Sales inventor.

Ergo nostra control pallet yam in lustre,
Benedict Domino sales Rage nostril.

I think a Benedict Domino is good as well. Why he shold sell rage nostrils is beyond me though...

:D

Of course, the few who do not read in that fashion will be having difficulties. I don't know if that applies to dsylexics...

Just posted this so as you can tell if you are "normal"....

I was an excellent and wellpaid typographer's prufreeder.... till I learned to read like Foolestroupe and Burke posted, without trying. Then I had to find another career in a hurry!

I used to have a blast writing anthropology papers and having EVERYTHING get underlined--my spellchecker could not spell "australopithecine" or "paleofeces" (it suggested "palefaces" as an alternative to the latter), among other things. Luckily, I'm a pretty good speller by nature so I don't have to rely on it too heavily.
