Subject: Programme about L.S Lowry on BBC1 From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 14 Sep 03 - 01:49 PM it starts in 10 minutes. sort of musical related, as Matchstalk Men & Cats Dogs, [Brian & Michael], and Pictures of Matchstick Men [Status Quo] were both written about him, there was another song about him as well, forgot what it is called now. He was a painter from Salford, famous for industrial landscapes. |

Subject: RE: Programme about L.S Lowry on BBC1 From: Steve Parkes Date: 15 Sep 03 - 11:36 AM Enjoyed watching, and learned a thing or two I hadn't known before (as usual). The Beeb's been accused of dumbing down with these progs. I can see why, but I think the premise of having a painter re-create a known work of art gives an insight into the original painter's philosophy and technique. Anyone who, like me, has done a bit of painting will know already that it's not just a matter of simply slapping some paint onto paper or canas. Steve |
