Well folks, it's been a mite windy in some parts, a little damp, but hey, somewhere the sun is shining and there's folks having a party - why shouldn't it be here?

I've scoured out the hot tub and filled it full of ice and beers, there's hot coals in the jello pit, tools and implements of destruction ready for use on the bar and the towels are off the hand pumps. Oh, and there's fresh, clean paper in all the right places - them newspapers were a bit too liberal with the ink smears.

Let's slap someone on the barbie (or just slap Barbie?) and have us a cook-out!

LTS

(It would have been a Barbeque and Luao but I forgot how to spell Luao).

Luauao sounds good to me, Liz. I'll start over here digging us a big old pit --you send out for the young piglet. We'll fill it full of red-hot stones and --oh, we'll need a few kilometerss of plantain leaves to wrap that sucker in...order those too,ok? ... lessee...this looks a likely spot -- hope you neighbors don't mind a few squeals. ANd the overspray landing in their gardenias....

Amos - don't get too near the pond with that piggie... you know how them pirannah get when the've not been fed for a while....

Good job I took the jello out of that pit - that pig was a bugger to catch as it was!

Erm......how long do we have to keep them piranha in our bath tub? Only they've drunk all the gin ....and the vodka.....and they're looking at the cats funny....and I'd quite like a bath...and they seem to have eaten one of the duckies .....and my loofah.

Glad that pig finally settled down to cook -- those squeals were getting to me ears!!

OK, so who's got the 8 pint jugs then?

Someone pass me up a beer please?

Morty, just drop a little kitty food into the tub and don't use that coco butter stuff.... the pirannah will settle down after a bit, those loofah's are pretty tough to digest.

Here's 5 gals of the latest brew from Bryant's Porcupine Brewery - it's about 7.2abv so I'm going to call it F.F.L. (Full Frontal Lobotomy). It's one of my thirst quenching paler brews - the ecstasy tablets in it should help to keep you thirsty. Just let me take the cask pressure off gently - now who wants a pint ?

Swap you for a gallon or two of pond water - my water lily has been swamped by elodia and duckweed. The snails are not doing their job properly and need to be evicted.

What? A Mudcat BBQ without any extinct critters? Somebody crank up the time machine and go catch one of THESE. Boy! Bet he'd be tasty.

Liz, get some Koi for your duckweed and elodea problem. I'd send you a couple, but I can't afford airfare for the little buggers and sharks'd probably eat 'em If they tried to swim.

The koi will eat all my daphnia and my leech wouldn't like them.

I called it Archibald.

Besides, the best cure for duckweed is to get a duck.

Beedub - the extinct critters are marinading in the jacuzzi. Give 'em another day or so in the garlic and another 20 mins in the cajun chilli.

Any more beers in the cooler? Two weeks of Mythos and Alpha is all very well but can't beat a British ale!

That's not a cat, it's the giant African Rat. The duck is it's friend. Not sure how close a friend, but they've been under that chair now for an hour.

Bring on the crusty bread, there's a couple of meatballs there with my name on them!

Do I need to bring chairs or do you have enough? Or will I bring my picnic blankei (good thing I haven't yet given it to Bob Bolton, I never use it) & who's bringing the cricket gear?

Can't have a barbie without a gane of cricket & what about the blowies & the ants - ya definitely can't have a barbie without that lot getting into everything.

Can I have some corn, please? No-one's mentioned onions - or are they considered a bit too ordinary with roast pig.

I have lots of fruit - including fresh dates, my absolute favourite (well, there is one less, as I've just eaten it, hmmmm, maybe I might have another)

sandra (who hasn't been to a barbie for months)

ps. this barbie seems to be lacking music. With all the singers & musos around,I would have thougth someone would have started singing by now.

Well yes, now you mention it, it has been a bit quiet. I mean, when we have these do's in the tavern, you can't hurl without hitting a bodhrain or a banjo (bodhrain on a stick)... come on you guys, there must be a muso out there somewhere who isn't actually face down in the marinade?

Thinks: maybe shouldn't have put so much sherry in the marinade....

There are chairs Sandra, but there's a duck and a giant African rat under one, and the other has a Roger sans eyebrows draped over it. You may find your blankie more of a comfort than before.....

Right, now, shift those ponds snails out of the beer and pull up a mug.

Liz - that's one of my snail traps you're trying to drink out of - it's what I use my stale beer for. Those Helix Aspersa are really boozy buggers and won't miss a free drink. Well they look well marinaded - MMario, if we gather them all up, how about serving them up with some garlic butter.

Cat - the Pattersoni Miccaris looks well-done now, but then so do you - that old double mattress in the barn comes in useful sometimes . . . . must tell Liz about it - after we've hosed her down of course - could someone turn on the tap.

No sign of Dave Kenningham yet, doesn't matter though - he never sings at barbecues. Mind you there seem to be quite a few people who haven't turned up yet - I thought that Richard Bridge, Dead Horse (& and the delectable Kate of course), Judel, Morty, Leadfingers etc were all invited.

I must admit though, Liz, that I still think you were being rather cruel to Manitas when you told him that no melodeons were allowed because they worry the sheep and therefore players were likely to be shot by the local farmers. Still every cloud . . . .

You'd be somewhat flatulent if you'd had to suck up all that beer froth, Liz. Anyway even after the hosing-down, you're not exactly eau-de-cologne - the sort of toilet water that you smell of isn't usually sold on the perfume counter.
