an emptiness, a vacancy...but surely not 'nothingness'...we humans are able to give meaning to nothingness by means of language...a song being a special case. We all know that the 'nothing' in that chair where a friend should be is much more than just empty space...

we can joke..(and it is fun to play with the words)..but those two lines above make the point pretty well that we are almost never speaking of 'pure' nothing.

Well, Greg, you may have trouble getting help quickly in this thread. The topic of this discussion is "nothing," and we've said an awful lot about it. You'll find the song by putting frog* court* in the search box, thereby finding a song that has frog, froggie, froggy, or froglegs AND court, courting, courtin', or courtyard.

"O Sole Mio" means "You are my Sunshine," more or less ... which means you're right on target since that has nothing to do with the thread....

I did mean to type 0(Nil, nothing) Solo Mio rather than O Solo Mio, so I was even more asleep than I thought I was.
