Subject: RE: More goings-on in Shropshire From: Trevor Date: 16 Dec 03 - 05:41 AM A few of the South Shropshire and Borders folk community are going to be busking in Shrewsbury next Saturday. We'll be in the Darwin Centre, on the bottom level near the Christmas tree from 10.00am until 2.00pm. It's in aid of Medecins Sans Frontieres and last year we raised getting on for £200, so if you want to play something, sing something, join in with something or rattle a tin you will be more than welcome to come and help us beat that figure. Cheers |
Subject: RE: More goings-on in Shropshire From: John J Date: 04 Dec 03 - 11:27 AM Just over the Salop / Staffs border from Eccleshall is the Anchor Inn at High Offley. It was a regular haunt of drinkers, singers & musicians. Does anyone know what, if anything, goes on there these days? John |
Subject: RE: More goings-on in Shropshire From: the lemonade lady Date: 04 Dec 03 - 08:41 AM Can we have a write up on the Bob Pegg/Rapsquillion concert Trev? |
Subject: RE: More goings-on in Shropshire From: greg stephens Date: 13 Nov 03 - 09:14 AM Eccleshall Folk Club is only just over the border in Staffordshire tonight (Thurs 13)...come and see the Boat Band at the Royal Oak. Lots of good tunes(emphasis on the tunes, I've lost my voice and so has Kate). |
Subject: RE: More goings-on in Shropshire From: the lemonade lady Date: 13 Nov 03 - 09:07 AM Trumpet blowing a little here... had a sesh in a local recording studio last night with fellow members of the band with which I am now a member(Shot Dogs); we're making a demo with which to torment clubs. On the way home I called in at The Buffalo in Clun as it was session night there. Aren't the pubs around here great? It was 11.30 and they still let me in and I got a pineapple juice. Had a really good sing too. Good to see Watson and his SO again too. Sal |
Subject: RE: More goings-on in Shropshire From: the lemonade lady Date: 07 Nov 03 - 02:17 PM Six Bells this Sunday in Bishop's Castle. The last one went well and this one needs as many to go as possible, to make this one a success too. I won't be there I'm afraid, sorry to miss it. Sal |
Subject: RE: More goings-on in Shropshire From: Trevor Date: 20 Oct 03 - 03:55 AM The people I spoke to thought it was OK - don't know where the story about noise when singers were singing came from. Apparently it happened once, during one singer's turn, but that was all. |
Subject: RE: More goings-on in Shropshire From: the lemonade lady Date: 19 Oct 03 - 09:56 AM Nice one Trev. So what's to be done about the Six Bells? Can you sort that too? |
Subject: RE: More goings-on in Shropshire From: Watson Date: 14 Oct 03 - 07:40 AM Thank you Trevor, well done. I'll start by saying that this Thursday (October 16)it's the monthly session at the Grove at Walcot between Wellington and Shrewsbury, near the Sugar Beet Factory. It's a mixed session - singing, playing, listening, drinking and eating. It's a wise precaution not to have anything to eat beforehand. |
Subject: More goings-on in Shropshire From: Trevor Date: 14 Oct 03 - 06:54 AM I was thinking that we could do with another start for the Shropshire thread, as well as fogie, so here it is, a continuation of this. |
