Subject: Lyr Req: even though we ain't got money... From: GUEST,Jen Date: 24 Oct 03 - 11:44 AM Trying to find the name and/or artist of the song inluding the lyrics: "even though we ain't got money, I'm so in love with you honey." and "In the morning when I rise, it brings a tear of joy to my eyes... tell me everything is going to be all right." Help! Thanks. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: even though we ain't got money... From: GUEST,Tinker from Chicago Date: 24 Oct 03 - 12:18 PM It's called "Danny's Song" and was written and recorded by Kenny Loggins. The hit recording in the USA, though, was by Anne Murray, who skipped a verse. When in doubt, ask Google. |

Subject: Lyr Add: DANNY'S SONG (Kenny Loggins) From: M.Ted Date: 24 Oct 03 - 12:37 PM You are treading on thin ice by even mentioning this song around here, Jen, and I am risking my reputation by posting it. It is the infamous "Danny's Song": DANNY'S SONG Kenny Loggins People smile and tell me I'm the lucky one And we've just begun, think I'm gonna have a son He will be like she and me, as free as a dove Conceived in love, sun is gonna shine above And even though we ain't got money I'm so in love with ya, honey And everything will bring a chain of love And in the mornin' when I rise You bring a tear of joy to my eyes And tell me, everything is gonna be alright Pisces, Virgo rising is a very good sign Strong and kind, and the little boy is mine Now I see a family where the once was none Now we've just begun, yeah we're gonna fly to the sun Love the girl who holds the world in a paper cup Drink it up, love her and she'll bring you luck And if you find she helps your mind, buddy, take her home Don't leave her alone, try to earn what lover's own. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: even though we ain't got money... From: M.Ted Date: 24 Oct 03 - 12:48 PM Missed your post Tinker, here's that missing verse, going out to all the folks in Chicagoland-- Seems as though a month ago I was down and tied, Never got high, Oh I was a sorry guy. Now a smile, a face, a girl that shares my name, Now I'm through with the game, This boy will never be the same. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: even though we ain't got money... From: GUEST Date: 24 Oct 03 - 12:55 PM Looking for a song that was released in the 60s (I think). Lyrics were partially "Mr. Moon Shining bright is watching my baby tonight" |
Subject: Danny's Song (Kenny Loggins) From: Genie Date: 24 Aug 09 - 04:17 AM Actually, Anne Murray just sings the first and last verse (which have more widespread relevance than the middle two verses, which pertain to Kenny Loggins's brother Danny, for whom the song written). But I'm confused about the "down and tied" lyric in the second verse. I know it makes more sense than what the lyrics sound like to me -- and, apparently, a lot of other people -- which is: "Seems as though a month ago I was beta chi ..." I've always wondered what the term "beta chi" refers to in that lyric, but I swear that's what Kenny Loggins sings. I can't think of what it could be a mondegreen of. "Tied" could sound like "chi," but "down and" would not sound like "beta." Anyway, I think I'll sing it "down and tied" from now on, because that makes more sense to me. Genie |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: even though we ain't got money... From: GUEST Date: 24 Aug 09 - 05:40 PM There is a fine live version on Loggins & Messina: Live Bustin Out. First few songs are Loggins singing solo then he brings out Jim Messina. Now I admit it has alot of "easy listening" kind of tunes on it but for some reason it penetrated my "Too Cool For School" persona and I really liked it, in college it was the go to album whenever I could get a girl alone in my dorm room! |
Subject: Lyrics: Danny's Song (Kenny Loggins) From: Genie Date: 25 Aug 09 - 06:01 AM Well, "a bitter guy" would make sense and it does sort of sound like that's what Kenny L sings. But the 3rd rhyming line in that verse ends with "I was a sorry guy." Usually songwriters don't use the same word twice in the same verse in that manner (using the same word instead of a rhyming word), so I doubt that "bitter guy" is the real lyric. As to "beta chi" being a fraternity, that still is indecipherable to me. G |
