I'm planning to be in Faversham/Canterbury this Friday and Saturday night - is there any live traditional music on in the area?

Thanks,

Mal

Mal
Shame you're not there on Thursday. A really good session happens in the "3 Tuns" every week.
I don't know of anything happening this Fri/Sat. Mind you, Fav is still a lovely place to visit anyway.
Enjoy!
Ralphie

There's probably something on at the 'Elephant' which is just along the road from the main A2. Got Nelson Brewery beer too.

Faversham is the centre of the universe ! I have many fond memories (well actually I'm not sure exactly how much I remember as such come to think of it) of a folk club at the Chimney Boy. Is that still going?

Indeed it is Sarah,
Meets at the "Chimney Boy" every Wednesday evening. Hosted Jez Lowe's 3 Nations Tour last wednesday.
Great guest evenings interspersed with a wide variety of performers on "singers nights" so pop in you'll probably see some familiar faces.

As I'm in the process of moving there (Fav...not the Chimney Boy!)
The Duet Concertina quotient looks like doubling!
A fine town indeed

Well, it WAS a fine town, Ralphie ..

What it'll be like with a duplicitous, cruelly manipulative, mendacious, callous, cold-hearted, hoodwinking, Duet Concertina player like you in it - is any one's guess.

Not that any of the above, first-person-observed, personality, traits are normally synonymous with concertina players - just in this case.

But, like any town, it probably has its fair share of w*nkers - what's the quotient going to be for that?

Dave .. it's not us women who are the predators ...

We are amateurs in the
1) advances, and
2) heart, mind and soul-f*cking [game]
played out in this instance.

Yes, Ralphie seemed to enjoy the fine, fresh breezes blowing along Worthing's seafront - bad smells don't linger here.

Ralphie,
You are absolutely spot on. I went to "The Three Tuns" last night(20th) and just sat and listened. The session was excellent, very well attended and the playing was a pleasure hear. I did not get to know the names but there are some very good players there, especially on the reeds and fine rendering of "Get my MO-JO working" with a blues mouth organ and a couple of guitars went down well. If poss. I shall certainly visit again.

Oh Dear

Sounds like two ladies, Noreen and NOW Nemesis have been spurned by our Mr. Jordon, (and they are the ones we know about) well what's new in the music world, seems to be the 'thing' hold on to your ....... girls there would seem to be lady killer on the lose by the name of Ralph (and some rather unsavory names by certain ladies.

Just remember NEVER trust a bloke, deep down they are all Cheating lying balless S.... take that from an expert in the male gender

It's the preceding "burning" not the subsequent "spurning" that inflames the pain.

So unneccessary ...

What i want to know is why you woman are so taken in? anyway this thread is about whats going on music wise, not peoples messed up lives.

Actually Faversham is quite a nice place, regardless who may pass through

Hey! Snow .. you know those seven little fellas you live with ..?

Why not sign up and PM one of the women concerned .. if you're gonna hang out with dwarves you may as well know the full tale of HOW and WHY they take women in!

As for our Jordan being a "ladykiller", doesn't that need a measure of suavity, good looks and charm? Not to mention a Tux ...

Exactly mirror mirror, seven little fellas they are, but size has nothing to do with it, and by the way mirror mirror have you looked at yourself lately? You may get a surprise, it's what people are truly like insidethat really matters, under all that surface stuff, not what they necessary portray. Sometime it takes a while to find the true person we thought we knew, and that can work both ways, better to have found out now that when shacked up with the other person.

If anyone is taken in purely because the other one has good looks and charm? Not to mention a Tux ( does Ralphie have any of these)then they have only themselves to blame, they should be looking under all the surface stuff with their eyes wide open. Having said that I suppose it would be untrue to say they most people haven't been sucked in at one time or another, hopefully neither woman will allow it to happen again, if they do then they only have themselves to blame.

I just hope they have taken a lesson from life as hard as it is.

I would have thought that most women would think that Ralphie was good looking - he's tall and very slim, and I've always found him charming. I've been trying to find a piccie on Mudcat, but this is the only one I've come up with, and he's right at the back hiding behind a beer glass. If you want to know about his (rather awesome)musical abilities, then there's a whole thread here on the Patterson Jordan Dipper album "Flat Earth".

Hmm.

I know of at least three people from Faversham I neither like nor trust, (not ones under discussion on this thread) but I also know a lot of others who have so far not given me cause to be more than usually suspicious...

Can we plan some real hop festival pub sessions before next year's hop festival arrives and it is too late...

Well, when I say "we" I mean "you". I seem to be planning the new Wednesday night things at the Railway Bell in Gravesend starting 3rd December. See you there, I hope.
