, With this Medicare bill you just stood in front of the world & lied your ass off.

How the hell do you sleep at night? You are a traitor to those fools who put you in office & to those fine Americans who didn't vote for you.

You're inbed with with every CEO & slimy politician who'd sell his mother for a buck. You & your cohorts are selling us down the river, You will bankrupt Medicare & the country with your ignominy. This bill is the beginning of the end- the overtime bill will hurt countless millions, the tortured POWs who were promised remuneration which you've reneged on, enron, etc. It goes on & on- you and Cheney are worse then whores. Atleast they give something up for a price.

I have more loathing & contempt for you & those Senators & rep.s who sell us down the river every day then for Hussein & bin Laden.

It is my dearest wish that you be defeated soundly in Nov.- But I fear that will not happen--cause one of your best friends owns the polling machines. Imagine that! You make Tammany Hall and Chicago's Daly Seem like Babes in the woods. Jefferson & Adams Are looking down at their dreams for this Republic being shattered.

I should feel better after telling you what I think, but I don't. I'm a widow who's having a tough time managing. And it's only going to get worse you Son of a Bitch.
                                          M.M.C.

Peace &
Justice

I've just lost it!! Watching him at his press conference I was so filled with loathing I had to do something. If I disappear - please light a candle for meeeeeeee.   OH NO !! Somebodys Knockin'

Every time I see a post like this one of Mickey191's, or the thread on Patriot II, or the 60 Minutes segment last Sunday on the American POWs who are being denied their compensation by the Bush Administration -- or the Homeland Security Act, or one of Ashcroft's little gems...I think, "chip, chip, nibble, nibble." Little by little, your freedoms, privileges, and way of life are being eaten away.

He's good-buddies with our leader too. So far we're holding out but it's touch and go. Our Medicare system, where you can actually afford to get treatment, is heavily under attack. I note that a recent idea of our dear leader is to have certain diseases re-classified as "life-style problems". He mentioned Arthritis, Heart disease, Diabetes, then take the medication off the cheap list claiming that treatment should be life-style changes. I realise that with some, by no means all, forms of these diseases there is a "life-style" component but it's not the whole story. Anyway since when was Howard a doctor?
I'll light a candle for you Mickey - I'd even shove it where it might count for something if I could get near enough.

Yeah, I'm with you, Mickey. I'd have a lot more respect (not that I have any...) for him if he wasn't a pathological liar. Yeah, fir once I'd just like to see him stand up and say, "I'm screwing you over. Now get over it!" But no, he has to tell yet another big lie.

Saddest thing is that most of the folks who voted for him, especially in the South, are loosing out. It's no big secret that the purchasing power of the middle class has decrease by 22% over the last 20 years while those who purchased Bush's selection have gone up well over 22%. Something happening here........

I think America has one last shot of moving toward righting itself in '04 but it will probably take 55% of voters voting against Bush to overcome the corrupt election processes. Ahhh, not that I particularly fond of Democrats (except Kucinich...) but I will forgo campaigning for the Greens at the national level this time around...

Now take a deep breath, Mickey. It ain't over until the fat lady sings...

Bobert

Joybell--Too funny! I'd not heard about the "Lifestyle" thing. That is mind-boggling. So if a person gets cirrhosis of the liver or pancreatitis he may be denied medicare coverage because of alcohol consumption.(New Bush Law) Now the Fellow says I don't drink. Then the gov't. must prove he's a drinker. So they go to his neighbors, the nearby liquor store or resort to a lie detector. (New Bush Law) This may sound far fetched, but I think it's plausible in the current zeitgeist. They find one neighbor who saw him have a beer at a barbecue, ergo he's a proven liar. He goes to an attorney to sue Medicare for out of pocket expenses. Lawyer says-Your expenses are higher then the gov't. cap on allowable damages.(A new Bush Law) Poor Shlub goes home and shoots himself. His wife is fined for unauthorized use of weaponry. (New Bush Law)

Lastly Raptor I think his secretary reads the mail to him.

Another forum that I belong to is exclusively about American politics, and has a lot of very savvy people on it -- from inside the Beltway, working for various senators, working for Congress, etc.

If you want to get rid of Bush, the word there is to follow Dean, even if you have to hold your nose. The one thing that people on that forum fear is third-party voting. Nothing wrong with it, as it sends a message. But not in this next election, in which the focus must be to get rid of Bush.

when someone is able to lie to US that way, I am sure that he (or 'they') first learned to lie to themselves convincingly. I shudder to think what he sees in the recesses of his own mind as the basic justification of the dismantling of democracy and what semblance of sanity we had!

Hi Mickey 191

Sorry you feel that way & the anger too, tisk, tisk. My sympathies, I hope you get well by next Nov but I think not. I do know how bad you must feel but it's not your fault, it's not your fault, it's not our fault. Here's a bit more to chew on to help you get your feathers up. Out of curiosity, the other day I was searching sites about extintion (sorry if you already knew this), to my dismay I found we are presently in the mist of the 6th mass extintion (the 5th being the demise of the dinosaurs), it'll be the first (& probably the only & last) caused by humans. I'm not pissed at Bush alone for this, he didn't start it but I am pissed that he & others tried to push the toxic energy bill down our throats, while life on this planet just got handed a health ins bill that none will be able to pay for. Every time this piece of shit has an idea it costs the public, not only financially but in blood, the lives of our kin & friends, our human & civil rights. 200 yrs of setbacks.

Ben Franklin said those who would sacrifice some of their freedom for security deserve neither (or some thing close to that). I get sick to my stomach every time I see or hear this idiot making some sort of speech, knowing that he & his regime are raping, pillaging & plundering the public, robbing the elderly of their future health, the kids of an education, parents of their children, while he passes off what he steals from us & gives it to those in his small circle. Skull & Bones is the flag that Jolly George flies & "we take no prisoners" is his cry.

Ya Mickey, I know just how you feel, I would rather dine on a rat's inners than to see his face or hear his lying tongue.

Barry

No point in blaming The Smirking Chimp for lying his ass off. He only says what he's told to say & isn't smart enough to know its bullshit.

Besides, it wouldn't mean a thing if the moronic voting public- who can't be bothered to actually read the bill, or take an interest, or get up from in front of FOX/FAUX News on the TV- DIDN'T TAKE WHAT HE SAYS AS ABSOLUTELY TRUE.

Dumbya & his Junta are only the manifestation of a much larger problem- a populace with the mental acuity of a plank.

How about holding the 11 Democrats who voted for this legislative turd (including Dianne Feinstein!) accountable, or worse yet, the two presidential hopeful weasels- Kerry and Lieberman- who couldn't be bothered to vote at all!

Hell, even Trent Lott voted against this thing.

The thing that really gripe me is the response of Bush suppositories-oh I mean supporters. It is unfailingly, forever & always a rehash of Clinton & Monica. Pavlov's dog all over again. It does drive me to the Excedrin bottle.

Barry, I guess Einstein was a genius-the war after the next one will be fought with bows & arrows the man said. (or words to that effect)

Greg, I agree -- Kerry and Lieberman have just disqualified themselves from consideration for the presidency. (Not that either could have had my vote... Kerry is Skull&Bones, ferchrissakes!)

pdc, may I infer from your use of "your freedoms" instead of the inclusive "our.." that you're not a US resident? Or are you somehow immune? BTW, I agree with you about Dean... or maybe Clark. But it would be disaster for the Dems to run Hillary (which I have heard suggested three times now in a week).

Cheers,
Michael

It hasn't yet but give Howard (Australia's PM) time and he'll make it one. His idea is (as I understood it) that if you have arthritis you need to exercise and loose weight. No matter that it is a whole bunch of different types, or that sometimes you may be in too much pain to exercise, or that you may not be overweight. It was just a passing comment but it sounded warning bells I reckon. We still have it pretty good in Australia as it happens, but we need to stay a step ahead.

Micky -- I agree with you. Remember the eecummings line, "Listen, there's a hell of a good universe next door, let's go"

My suggestion was to let the south secede after all -- but maybe we'll have to move into the old New England states, or some other core-blue-state region, and secede ourselves. We could all pay taxes, and have universal health care, and right to privacy, guaranteed freedoms, gun control, mandated limits on campaign spending, and free and fair elections, just to name a few. The red states could outlaw abortion, and all their 16-year-old daughters who get knocked up would come to our side "for a visit". (Boy, is THAT ever going to offend some folks!) I think the US needs a "two state solution".

Gee, there's not by any chance a left-wing outlook on this forum, is there? (giggle)

Everybody please read "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them," by Al Franken. It's chilling.

I have had arthritis since I was twenty. I really don't think it's my lifestyle. Or my mother's. Or my grandmother's.

As for the chance of Mickey disappearing, has anyone read the provisions of the Patriot Act? Or Patriot Act II? Among other things, many public libraries are now destroying check-out records as soon as the book is returned, to avoid the possibility of having to give the government information on what the patrons have been reading. The clowns who wrote it should definitely go back and read the Constitution--provided, of course, that the Supreme Court cares any more.

This is also why a large chunk of our synagogue joined the San Francisco Islamic Society--if they're makin' lists and takin' names, we don't want to be left out.

Please relax ( but watchful) all you arthritis sufferers, and people with the other two diseases mentioned. I'm sure our PM won't get away with it. Not yet anyway. We have big organizations here for the major diseases and the medical proffession on side. I too have a form of arthritis - related to an autoimune syndrome, so I naturally pricked up my ears when I heard the news report. My husband has late-onset diabetes which can only be partly treated with excercise and diet - and only for an average of 8 years - then the drugs are usually needed. I do note though that antihistamines are not considered to be important enough to be on the cheap list and hayfever, even if associated with life-threatening asthma, is very expensive to treat with the necessary drugs.
