Subject: BS: Kentucky Bathing Laws From: GUEST,Mickey191 Date: 27 Nov 03 - 03:42 PM If you move to Kentucky be advised there are strict cleanliness laws on the books. Whether you like it or not, you MUST bathe atleast once a year. They'll put you in the slammer if you forget!!--So mark it on your calendar. Another state law: "No female shall appear in a bathing suit on any highway unless she is escorted by two officers or unless she be armed with a club." The law was later amended with:"The provisions shall not apply to females weighing less than 90 pounds nor exceeding 200 pounds, nor shall it apply to female horses." How do dumb laws like this get on the books? Salaried Morons!! Know any other dummb laws? |

Subject: RE: BS: Kentucky Bathing Laws From: Rapparee Date: 27 Nov 03 - 07:24 PM It was called a club when the law was written. Now it's called "groupies." |

Subject: RE: BS: Kentucky Bathing Laws From: JohnInKansas Date: 27 Nov 03 - 11:07 PM The first post here brought to mind a rather "charming" painting at Olga's** web gallery: Brulloff, Karl (Russian, 1799-1852) In a Harem. By Allah's Order Underwear Should Be Changed Once a Year" 1850-1852. Oil on canvas The Gallery of New Art, Milano, Italy. Probably not too PC now, and not really that great a painting (in my estimation); but any research into the origin of such "laws" should investigate all historical contexts(?). **I'll note that Olga's gallery features numerous advertising pop-ups, for those offended by them., and that this painting does show a graphic "changing of the underwear."
