Rene, if you mean the traditional Anglo version, it is in the DT and there are links to it at the top of this thread. The Ojibway lyrics are posted above by Sir Yuengling. I have no idea how they translate, but they sounded great as background music in the Norther Exposure episode. There was also a time, about five years ago or more, when Ojibway Square Dance was used as "muzak" in one of the galleries of the American Indian Museum at the Customs House in New York City. Not there the last time I visited the museum this past Thanksgiving, though.

Here are the words to Anglo version #2:

I don't know why, but for some reason I decided to memorize this song when I was younger and I can still sing it today.

The artist's name is Georgia Wettlin-Larsen. She introduces the song, explaining how non-Native American tunes were adapted by adding Native American lyrics to them. Info on the CD track listing, etc. found at this site.

It's on the CD called Northern Exposure. The woman who recorded the song gives a little of its history as she introduces it.

but i did love marilyn
the doc, the raadio d.j.
the moose that walked thru
town, and i remember a scene
where there was a celebration
sort of like mexico's doy of the dead
with skeletons , RAVENS, etc.
is this a N.W. tradition or
t.v. script ?

In the good old days of Northern Exposure, when Rob Morrow was the main man, there was an episode when Marylin [my favourite character] went off to the big city [sic] I think it was Juneau, or it may have been Seattle, but part of the background music was a Native American version of this song. I can hear it running through my mind even now.
Anybody know where I can get a copy of this??
