Subject: BS: my birthday From: RangerSteve Date: 14 Dec 03 - 06:49 PM I feel funny bringing this up myself, but what the heck, you can ignore this if you want. I woke up this morning and it was snowing. I also didn't have any electricity, so I didn't have heat or running water. I had to work today, but I waited until it was light before I left, and arrived late. I was on alone today. The first good thing that happened was that the practice run for the reenactment of Washington crossing the Delaware was snowed out. This attracts as many people as the reenactment itself, (which happens on Christmas). So I didn't have to direct traffic. Around 11:00 I decided that no one in their right mind was going to visit a State Park today, so I went home. It took me an hour and a half to go 20 miles, as the roads were not plowed. I was tailgated by a jerk in his Hummer for the last five miles. Still no electricity. It seem there was a car accident that took out two utility poles down the road. So I went to bed for a couple of hours. Then I went out, which was a stupid idea now that I think about it, and had lunch with a friend at a local diner. I had fried scallops, fries, and red cabbage. This made up for the rest of the day. By the time I got home, the power was back on and the house is warmed up again. I checked out the Mudcat, and some of the threads cheered me up, so, thanks folks for the interesting and funndy threads. Steve |

Subject: RE: BS: my birthday From: Naemanson Date: 14 Dec 03 - 07:08 PM Happy Birthday. You should move that birthday to July like mine. July is a good time for birthdays. You might get rain but rarely snow. Of course, since I moved to Guam the only ice I've seen was in my drink. |

Subject: RE: BS: my birthday From: GUEST,RangerSteve's Secret Santa Date: 14 Dec 03 - 11:01 PM Okay, as a member of the December Birthday club I here by declare that you absolutely have to get more than one present and the birthday present must be wrapped in birthday paper. Of course this means I must get this out to you in the next couple of days or it won't even count as belated on the birthday end. I've trained my family on the no double counting the present rule for years. Now the weather here was no better and filling your wishes took a little imagination for reasons that will be obvious at a later date. But, I didn't have to go out. I got to sit home with a warm cup of Yorkshire Tea.... and reflect on Mudcat memories. Now I'll regal you with more of these later, but for now HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!! S'SSanty |

Subject: RE: BS: my birthday From: Alice Date: 15 Dec 03 - 09:20 AM Many Happy Returns from another December baby. I will be 52 on the 20th. One year *I* even forgot my own birthday! It was a five months after my parents had died and I returned home after spending a couple of days working on cleaning out my mom's closet and sorting things at their house. I lived alone. Toward the end of the day, I realized it was my birthday. As in many years, no presents and no acknowledgement from others. It has happened to me so many times I have gotten used to it (sad, int it?). The worst was when I was 16 and my family forgot it. ALL THE BEST TO YOU!! Alice Flynn in Montana |

An a very good advice I found in the member profiles: If you find yourself being stressed by work or life, take a break and visit Alice's website! Wilfried |
