Help please: Rest In Peace in Gaelic

Been a contibutor on here for a few years now, and observed how you as a community pull together when one or the other has some bad news. This morning my father passed away in his sleep. He lives in Ireland and I live in England. He had many, many friends here and before I go to Ireland I would like to place an obituary in our local paper. Can anyone tell me what Rest In Peace is in Gaelic, as that is what he would have liked.

My condolences; this is a rough passage for many and it doesn't happen quickly.
You're doing the right thing. I don't know the answer toy our question about Gaelic but someone who does will be llong.

really sorry to hear this, i know its know consolation, but i know how you feel, my dad died on 1st december.
I wish i could post something useful, Re the Rst in peace, you could PM Dahti, he speaks Gaelic.

My best thoughts go out to the both of you. Dads are wonderful things. Mine has been gone for 30 years and I still think of him everyday and hope that I'm as good at the job as he was. If my boys think I'm half as good as I knew he was, then I'll be happy. Fill the hole in your heart with the memories and visit them every day....it makes them immortal and keeps them close.

Feeling your loss... my dad crossed over a little over a year ago. It sounds like your Dad's going was peaceful. Let yourself miss him. Not all tears are bad.

I offer you my condolences as well. I lost my mother nearly three years ago and I feel for you now. Sadness can be a wonderful thing and grieving can be a wonderful time.

I always look at something that just says so simply "help please" because it is meant.

Yes - my sincere condolences too. Although this is not in Irish, it is a Celtic blessing which I came across some years ago and the last lines might be relevant.

"May the blessing of the light be with you -
Light outside and light within.
May sunlight shine upon you and warm your heart,
'Til it glows like a great peat fire,
So that the stranger may come and warm himself by it.

May the blessed light shine out of your two eyes
Like a candle set in two windows of a house,
Bidding the wanderer to come in out of the storm.
May you ever give a kindly greeting to those you pass
As you go along the roads.

May the blessing of rain - the sweet, soft rain fall upon you,
So that little flowers may spring up to shed
Their sweetness in the air.

To close here is an old Irish toast:
"Beir bua agus beannachtai; gob fluic; talamh gan cios; mac gac bliain; na Sasana ag lorg deirc; saol fada agus bas in Eirinn."
I'm sure your late father would have a laugh at that one.

countess Richard's suggestion (which literally means "That his soul may be at the right hand of God") is the standard conclusion to to many death notices in Ireland - without being a cliché.
