The other day reading the postings and laughing at the comments got me thinking about how the Mudcat used be and how it is today.

So looking back through thousands of posts that I liked I found a few that stand out, not because they are grammar or spelling wizards but because they made me pay attention by saying interesting and or funny things.

My vote would go to Cleigh O Possum but a close contestant would be the Elves.

I expect this has been dealt with elsewhere, but I've not seen it. The current discussion on funny Mudcat threads identifies some items as being worth publishing. What are the legal implications of posting something on Mudcat? Does the writer still own the rights? or has Max miraculaously acquired ownership? Is there a difference according to the nationality of the poster? Anyone know?

Truth is, there are really only about a dozen real people on the mudcat. The rest are just my multiple personalities and artificial intelligence experiments.

I like Snowball, the cat from the film 'Stuart Little', or the cat that came back in that cartoon, he was cool....

Best of all I like my three live cats, especially Max who sleeps in my nightshirt.

The human Max here is pretty darn gorgeous too.

Top Cat was one of my favorites. I like black cats in general, of course.

And I have to admit a weakness for Katlaughing's posts. Of course I have a weakness for Kat(therine)s in general. I've been engaged to two of 'em (escaped before they caught me though - wouldn't be much of a blackcatter if I didn't).

I think Bee-Dubya-ell has been working up to a close second to Spaws posts. JOhn from Hull has me trying to figure him out still. I did see a post from him recently that was almost too normal, which put a whole new twist on my figuring.

As an unintended consequence of my "Dear Mr Guitar" thread, Dr. Guitar ended up creating one of the most humorous (and might I add, laudably on a musical theme) characters here. I initially thought that if there was humor to be had in my Mr Guitar idea, it was in the silly, naive, stoopid assumptions of the questions -- not in answering them. Whoever came up with Dr. Guitar proved me wrong.

Favourite Characters of mine have to include various ones *fronted* by Lonesome EJ, Spaw, PeterT., and JenEllen, mostly in the story threads.

For those of you who need a Reg, Reg, Cletus and Paw fix, if you CLICK HERE and look at Spaw's first posting, you will find links to damn near everything of relevance. Bookmark it, that's an important link!**bg**

Ah sad news about Little John. That name doesn't seem familiar to me. I remember seeing the messages in late '98 and early 99. ...

As for checking in to see if I was in this thread ... I-I-I-I-I ... didn't, honest. ;) I hadn't been on for such a long time. But I see familiar names mentioned, such as 'spaw and KatLaughing. :)

I really like some of the alter-egos that show up around here. For instance, I'm very fond of Penelope Rutledge. Well, actually, I should say I'm very impressed by the talent of Penelope's perpetrator. I really hate Penelope herself. She's a bitch.

For sheer creative genius there is nothing to match the incredible characters brought forth in Mudcat Enterprise (a fiction space opera thread) by Peter T, Jen Ellen, LEJ and few others. Then there's the wonderful bird-burning Mojo Woman on the Mississippi riverboat Albert Hansell, and the boat's intrepid skipper Catspaw, and a host of strange Mississippi riverboat characters. There's Peter T's amazing flat-foot Blake, and the otherworldly doings of the Himalayan mystics, and then there's the hot-rod mechanics in the Juke Box Joint, and the strange folkies (of whom Condolezza must be the greatest) who solved the murder mystery at the folk festival...I mean, there is no end to these characters aorund here. Oh, and those seadogs under Elizabeth Regina who nearly stole the Empire! Just peruse the fiction threads over the last few years and you'll have your hands full.

The last Blake Madison post I've seen. Amos, Peter T is a wonderful writer, but Blake wasn't his shadow. From the beginning, he always left enough clues so it was possible to figure out who Blake's alter-ego was, but not so many that it was easy. I've never been 100% sure, either. That was half the fun though.

I would have PM'd the author if I could have. I feel it's the finest piece of writing I've ever read here.
