But the best present I heard about was made by the son of my boss in one of my jobs; he's a graphic artist, and he put together a CD of all the tunes his friends used to dance to in their 20s, with a cover made up of old pictures of them all.

A kitchen apron that says "No. 1 Grandpa" and a keychain with tag that says "World's Best Grandpa".

A gorgeous and HEAVY coffee table book called Earth From Above, which will take a LONG time to fully appreciate. Some of the best color reproductions I've seen, of various cultural, geographic, and geological features from around the world, all as seen from above, with commentary and explanations.

A good time was had by all.

What I got from my SS, I posted in the My Pressie has arrived! thread. What I got from another friend, in a box opened just a little while ago:

A plush, pink (very pink) and white Bagpus, that "yawns" when you squeeze its mouth; the book At Death's Door by Neil Gaiman; a collection of CD-roms on which my friend burned examples of his favorite shows and music videos; a bag of jelly babies and one of malteasers, a Christmas card with a hand drawn cartoon inside; and nicest of all, a letter declaring me to be a best friend, and promising me a hug when we finally get to meet in person...

I am feeling very loved, right now!

A perfect present from my Secret Santa - 2 CDs of old American songs with lovely old pictures on the covers. A box of exotic-smelling spices and candels and gem stones from one daughter with instructions for a magic spell. Can't do a nasty spell though - Oh well a bit of prosperity won't go astray. A fitness CD from other daughter - she knows how much I want to lose weight.
Best of all these messages here with my new friends from all over the world.

I got a very nice digital radio, some even nicer chocolates and a book of Cat Haikus. I also got some chocolate beer, some chocolates and some DVDs/CDs. Anyone spot a theme here?

I also got a lovely dragon that I've named Julian and some books and preserves from my secret santa in Virginia.

There was also a cassette, which I've not had chance to listen to yet, but will soon, and some Hersheys' candy which I look forward to testing.

Unbelievable - he must have saved for ages. My husband gave me an LDC monitor for my computer, because he knows I have terrible eyesight, and this will help. I nearly fell through the floor.

Welllllllllll.....I'd say that 99.9% of our presents remain wrapped in hopes that VV Varone will soon return....and we aren't going to open any gifts until she gets home...HMPH!   What? Mom...what did you say? There are 2 presents that you want us to open today? But Mom...what about waiting for VV Varone? Yes, I know there is a mountain of gifts (which by the way is incredibly TOO MUCH) but we are grown ups here...we can wait. Mom...really....don't put those presents next to us....stop shaking that little box in my face...yes, yes, good things DO come in small packages.....I AM NOT SMIRKING...STOP STOP STOP.....I'll open it...okay...OK....I'LL OPEN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   *smirk*

And so the story goes..........LOL. I got a beautiful pair of dangley pearl earrings from my mom (which my sister picked out!) and a lead crystal hurrican lamp with a wreath of hemlock greens, teeny tiny pine cones and red berries! My husband got a brass barometer (is that spelled right?!?!?) that shows the usual changes in pressure and such but also a scale to show when the fishing is good, not so good and why aren't you out in the stream already?? :)

The rest of the gifts WILL wait until the little one returns...which of course...will be the absolute best gift of all!

an array of scented products (lotion, candle, bath salts, soap etc.)...

Saki is Japan's national drink, I think it's usually drunk hot or warm.

A Saki set is a bottle & thimble-sized cups to drink this very potent spirit.

my pressies were few (as always) but excellent.

A Body Shop set of foot care goodies (smells lovely - it's peppermint oil, which is sooo good for tootsies) from my boss

From my Englsh penfriend, a makeup bag, silk scarf, lipstick holder (my old one is tatty, how did she know?), lipstick in a shade I often wear (ditto), nail polish (haven't worn any for years but it's a lovely soft colour & will look good on short nails).

A mini-personal fan to wear around my neck AND a set of 4 batteries from my very thoughtful office Secret Santa. I use a big fan all years long in the air-conditioned office cos I always need air blowing on me & can get very distressed in meeting rooms etc when I'm away from a decent source of cold or moving air.

Two fluffy critters, 2 hooks in the shape of bears & a cheque for $50.

Lovly stuff from Secret Santa Micca - a porcelain bear, Lorna Campbell CD, CD of Towersey Barn singing session, CD-ROM of Secret Santa stuff - such fun!!

Still waiting from something from my sister.

I got the new Pratchett,the new Joanne Harris, two pairs of beautiful earrings ( thanks Micca and Khatt),a green amber necklace, a set of books about Michigan, a cd and a box of something called S'mores which look like a snack for a giant(thanks Big Mick).....I also got a lovely little hot bean bag type thingie and some Body Shop stuff.........but the best thing I got was to spend some time with my kids...I am a very lucky woman.

My beautiful Santa's gift has arrived. RangerSteve you have made my day! I'm listening to your banjo, harp, and vocal playing as I write.
Steve sent me a recording, of his music, made in 1986! Whoa! I am now a proud owner of one of the last 8 known remaining copies in circulation!! Sounds great Steve! You are a picker aren't you! And I love your harp style! (Maybe one day we can play harp together).
Santa sent me a wonderful picture book of New Jersey that I looked through quickly but will enjoy after my writing. (I just opened my gift ten minutes ago!)
Steve sent me a CD of Cephas and Wiggins that I can't wait to hear, but now I'm happy listening to Steve's music,
Now talking about paying attention, my Santa sent me an antique egg beater, I don't think I will hang in my kitchen with my other collectables but instead I think I'll hang it on the wall in my music room, just because.
And last he sent me a laugh and more. Steve says to me in his letter, "The label has nothing to do with my opinion of you." Ha!, It's a wash away your sins,illuminate your soul, purifying candle. Directions for use-
