The quotation was rather vaguely directed at the Bush administration and the continuing American difficulty in developing a socialized (universal) medicare system. It would require some spending cuts in weaponry, but it would provide good things to people who cannot afford the medical care they need. It ain't hard to see; it is hard to do. BM

a year of distortion undoubtedly..but also a year of incredible hope for the future....a coalition of countries with such few resources themselves joining more developed countries to rid the world of a great source of evil...signs of some worrisome countries becoming more moderate...advances in alternative energy...some aspects of medical stupidity coming to end...in u.s...unbelievably low interest rates which translates to more housing for people...upturns in some economic indicators..

we shouldn't get all of our sexual pleasure out of doom and gloom. but that is just my opinion.

I took it brucie meant that, when some pretty smart people forget that there are limits on what they can do, they are liable to do something really stupid. Which has been demonstrated frequently.

Of course that happens when stupid people forget their limits as well.

When the two get together, they can come up with some real lulus - Blair + Bush...

Here's my problem, Bobert. I've been keeping my eye on the Democratic field, and I find that most of them are lying to me as well. And that goes for Dean and Clark, I'm sorry to say. I might consider Kucinich or Edwards, but they don't stand a chance, do they? No matter who I vote for, I'll be contributing to something I don't want.

How many have a bumper sticker on your car for the potential Bush retirer? A poster in your door? A letter to a newspaper?

Yeah, it's fine to sit around and gripe. Get off yer butts and do something about it or you're gonna get another 4 years and abother 4 years and...

Sorry about the rant but, hey, if I can get out there as a Greenie and work for Dean, then dangit, you folks can put a few peas in the pot....

We all know Bush is a liar of the highest order. He better than Clinton because he's to dumb to know he's doing it. Yeah, he is pathological in that he believes his own lies but, if you want him out, you're gonna have to work to get him out...

It's a general practice, any time a service is being reduced, there'll be an announcement saying how it's gettig better.

When a local branch of a shop closes there's a notice on the door saying how, for the benefit of customers, things have been rerorganised so that they will be able to make use of the services of a branch on the other side of the county. Same thing when a casualty service is chopped, or a bus service ceases, or a police station is shut down - it's always an improvement for the benefit of the customers.

It's hard to imagine that anybody believes this, but I suppose they must or it wouldn't always be being said. And in politics the people who say these things seem to keep getting elected, though the numbers who bother to go and vote keep on slipping down.
