Well, I'm not saying I'm not keen to do 'em, but ya might wanna hear me first... maybe I suck (and not in the good way) and the favourable reviews here of me have been sarcasim?

LOL

(It's been so long since I did a 'concert' as opposed to playing a bar, I'd be lucky if I remembered how... )

Yes, please, let us know. Scheduling anything in Jan-Feb in the Great Lakes area is iffy at best-- can sometimes be downright dangerous, but I'd be interested, too. And, like Mick said, Clinton really doesn't suck.

The Barrie/Orillia area is fine by me, it's a nice drive from Lake Huron. Spring would be best unless I'm gigging, but I'd try to keep a date open if I knew far enough in advance. Anything I can bring? Food?

Graet idea!

Maybe I can hitch a ride with Big Mick and his clan?

May sounds GREAT to me! The roads are really no fun here in the winter ... I think Raptor had some exciting winter sports in mind for us though -- (skiing, snowshoeing etc).

Regarding the raid at the former Molson's brewery here in Barrie, I'm so disappointed that our archaic criminal laws prevent Molson's from diversifying it's party products! Nice try though, guys! ;-)

I don't want to speak for Raptor, but I'm not sure there's enough space in his driveway/yard for a pop-up Mooh. There are a few campgrounds nearby, and you'd be most welcome to camp out at my place if you like! I'm about 20 minutes from Raptor's. My house is so small I couldn't host more than one other person inside (or perhaps a couple, although that might be a bit "squishy"). But I do have a nice big yard and would be most happy to let you use the facilities here! And if there's anyone planning on coming up alone and needing a place to stay, let me know ok?

How about the long weekend in May, Raptor -- Victoria Day? IT would give people an extra day for travelling, and the weather is usually gorgeous by then.

The Victoria Day long weekend would be excellent for us, assuming Nothing Bad Happens. (Edmund's in the army and I have a gummint job, and you know what that can mean.) Ottawa is about six to seven hours from Barrie if you obey the law and the conditions are good, so it's manageable on a Friday after work, if one makes only a token appearance at the office after lunch. Any Ottawa-area 'Catters who would like to attend without driving should contact us.

Charmion (speaking for Edmund, too, in his absence)

Hey, I would like to meet some of you catters. I am about 90 minutes from Barrie (Whitby) although May 24th week-end is not a good time. I will have visitors from Ireland here at Easter and again in May. A weekend in late April or early May would be better, but go ahead and set a definite date and I may be able to work around it.

Raptor, much as I would like to hear Clinton, I think we might manage to put something together in his absence. (Or was that question mark meant to show that you were being tongue in cheek?)

Pity that the Victoria Day weekend doesn't work for you. It really would be better for those coming from a distance.

I could probably make it on the weekend of the 16th, but it might be harder for Charmion to get the time off work.

Ah-hah!!! I knew there was something out there I was missing out on. Yowsa!

May sounds good to me. We have GOT to get Clinton Hammond to attend. (I have plans for him.) I suggest bribery. If that doesn't work (or if he wants more money than it's really worth), I suggest blackmail! If that fails, we kidnap him.

Clinton and I are both big fans of "Trailer Park Boys" and Raptor has the whole set of DVD's. We will drink, play music, and watch Ricky slide down the hill behind the grocery store parking lot and yell "F******K!!!" over and over again...then watch Bubbles as he says "Is it just me...or does somebody around here need to go F***K themselves?"

LOL!

I can't wait!

Of possible interest for you tourists planning a visit to Ontari-ari-ario.

Our theme song, from Rick Mercer's Monday Report.

Not just occurring in Barrie... a local business here was charged with cultivation too. A podiatrist clinic where they were supplementing the income by growing bud on the premises. I guess they were sold on the concept of creating happy feet.

am i to assume that you folks eat kids for breakfast? how is music going to survive if we all consume our young before teaching them where have all the flowers gone?

Well, smoking causes air pollution, so just make sure to stuff the kids full of the world-renowned Ontario flower-tops before you eat'em. Better for them, better for you, better for the environment.

And you'll never have to wonder again where all the flowers have gone!

that would be nipping them in the bud!

apropos of nothing there is a lot of great music happening on Raptor's stomping ground the weekend of May 16th. couple of newfie women coming in to homeless bob's for a house concert on the 15th.

I wonder why people feel free to refer to Newfoundlanders as "newfies"? Calling these musicians "a couple of newfie women" is as insulting as calling an Irish band "a bunch of Micks", or the Three Tenors "a Wop and a couple of Dagoes".

I suspect that the women in question may be Christina Smith and Jeannie Hewson, both superb musicians (and friends of mine).

ouch...certainly meant no insult and jeanne and christina are not the women in question if that makes any difference. i guess when talking about people we consider friends nicknames seem more appropriate than formal terms...however i certainly will watch my colloquialisms from now on.

Anyway, JtS and I have a recollection of being told that Rick F. wrote that jingle.

"How old is Rick F??

Have to trot this out with apologies to Rick
And of course Moe Jaffe & Dwight Latham

Fielding loves Corn bread
Tune: 'I'm My Own Grandpa'

Chrs: Fielding loves Corn Bread,
      Rick Just loves corn bread
It sounds funny I know, but It really is so
      Rick Just loves corn bread.

Way back in the dawn of time, when he was but a tot
The Hebrews all got mana from the plains of sand and rock
Moses said tell Fielding when he finishes his set
He ought to try this mana bread, the best he'll ever get.

Chrs

Abraham played backup so he said he'd pass it on
Offered it with Waters from the lands of Babylon
Rick could not refuse the drink, but this is what he said
I'll play upon my zither cause "I'd rather have corn bread"

I was thinking May 16 was confirmed...there's a useful coincidence with a Mariposa audition someone wants me to back her up at.

But as far as I know I could live with the 22nd.

Edmund, is that a preference, or "can only go on the 22nd?" Obvious advantage to the long weekend if it's not otherwise engaged.

Bill

I would prefer 22 May because of the long weekend, but it is not an absolute showstopper. 16 May would require me to take some leave from work.
