I finally saw the 'scream', and realized I had already SEEN it...it didn't impress me one way or the other. I saw no particular down side to it....just a guy letting off a bit of steam. What IS all the fuss? Is he supposed to look hang-dog and sullen, or is he supposed to rally the troops?

I think the press has made more of it than was necessary. Frankly, I just thought he was caught up in the moment and was trying to assure his followers that he wasn't going to give up.

I'd heard that the Republicans want Dean as the Democrat candidate, and was wondering why. Face it, Alice, this is why. Notwithstanding Doug's assessment, I'd be surprised if the rant has not done him terminal damage. From the White House point of view, he peaked too early - they would surely have preferred him to go nuts in the election proper.

We'll see if there's damage done on Tuesday. Here in New Hampshire it seems he gonna take the state by storm, I hope. The White House doesn't have the intellegence to have a point of view.

There was nothing inherent in the moment anything like what was made of it later.

What we are looking at is a media-created event. Media are supposed to report events created by others, not create false ones by distorting the story. But the latter is a more remunerative path.

Thanks for the links, Alice. I was excited just to see one of the candidates actually full of enthusiasm with a can-do attitude. The media has been idiots in their focus.

I don't think the rant will hurt Dean as much as the concerted effort by the Media and his Democratic "insider" rivals who have together tried to plant the idea that Dean is not electable. And when I mention the press's eagerness to jump into this PR campaign, we're really talking about the Bush administration. Publicly they say they would love to have Dean as the Dems choice but privately, I'm sure that Dr, Dean scares the living heck out of 'em because he is *not* an insider Democrat and possibly teamed up with Clark or Edwards as a running mate, the Dems could kick some serious butt...
