you can find recordings of this song on youtube now - I see the "channel" has recordings of Sarah Ghriallais and of Celia Ní Fhathartha sing Sagart na Cúile Báine.

This particular song, in its Irish language version, would be Public Domain. Briain's translated version is presumably copyright.

Brían O'Rourke's notes from the recording "Idir Dhá Shaile" of singer Sarah Ghriallais:
"Like many songs in Irish, this one does not tell a story; it assumes rather that listeners are already in possession of the facts on which the verses comment. If, with the passage of time, the details of the events referred to are lost, such songs become enigmatic. That is the case here; I have never come across any background information on this lament for a drowned priest."
