I saw a performance by an Irish chap last year in Chester Nova Scotia. His name escapes me, but he played a tune on the bodrahn telling the story of a goat becoming a bodrahn. The song was written from the perspective of the goat (poor fella).

Anyone heard of it or know where I could get the tune/ lyrics?

I've found the name of the song, "When I Grow Up," but evidently you are not the only one who is having trouble identifyiong the performer! I found the following request on this page:

"We have received the lyrics for "When I Grow Up", a song about a goat who desires to become a bodhran when he passes on. Following this thread around the web for a few minutes I found refrence to a song by Four Men and a Dog called Moron with a Bodhran.

Anyone know it?

It does not seem to be in DT.

Moron with a Bodhran is named Wrap it Up by Neil Johnson and Arty McGlynn and is on a CD called Barking Mad by Four Men and a Dog.
On the Topic label cd no TSCD461 ...........it's good too !

Ah but what about the tunes? I got the words of "when I grow up" some time ago, but no tune, so I just sing it to the tune of "All for me Grog" which is as good a 6/8 jig tune as any, and the words seem to scan. If anyone can do a midi of either this one or "Wrap it Up" I'd be eternally grateful, being one of they posers wi' a bodhran meself.

Back in the 70s Mike Henry used to sing this - note the third verse:

She came from the mountains, her stockings were black;
