Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 06 Feb 04 - 04:24 PM And if we extend the weekend 2006 till the 18th of July, it will see my 40th birthday as well ;-) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Fibula Mattock Date: 06 Feb 04 - 04:18 PM Just realised that the weekend of February 3rd - 5th of 2006 sees my 30th birthday on the Friday and Bassic's 50th on the Sunday.Make a date in your diaries - it's a biggie! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 06 Feb 04 - 09:56 AM That would be a MudGuardegreen then! And yes, I made one. Long times ago - see here... |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Liz the Squeak Date: 06 Feb 04 - 09:32 AM It has to be jam, because jelly don't spread like that. Of course, we could preserve our dignity and stop this here, but somehow I don't think it will. I'll have to conserve my energies for other activities. Has Mudguard made his own 'Mondegreen'? LTS |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Micca Date: 06 Feb 04 - 09:22 AM MudGuard there is an especially fine recording of it on the Mudcat "Blue Bottle Special" CD made in the Conference room at Barholm during Loughstock1 and including in the line up Noreen, CatsPhiddle, Skipjack, Eric tV, Leadfingers, and others, |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Noreen Date: 06 Feb 04 - 09:19 AM Khatt, as you seem to have got Fanny Power (no further comment required) I'll provide a link to Planxty Irwin, the second Carolan tune which followed it. The site I have linked to is JC's ABC tune finder, a major resource for tunes you've got the name of and nothing more. Provides GIF (sheet music as in my link) and MIDI to listen to, amongst other formats. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 06 Feb 04 - 09:14 AM It must have been the noise in the pub... Found "Le Canal en Octobre" ;-) Thanks for the correction! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Noreen Date: 06 Feb 04 - 09:10 AM Andy, re "Canadian October" : either my voice is unclear, your ears haven't popped after your flight or you can't read your own writing..... The tune you want is Le Canal en Octobre, also known for some reason as The Canal in October written by a M. Paris. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 06 Feb 04 - 09:06 AM ROFL, Micca! ;-) Why did you push cats down the stairs? |

Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Liz the Squeak Date: 06 Feb 04 - 04:32 AM Well if it's the same as the jar you gave me, the jam is lovely - perfect on crumpets and wonderful in a traditional jam buttie (sandwich)! Thank you. LTS |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 05 Feb 04 - 07:36 PM You're welcome! As you are still alive I guess that glass of jam is still un-opened... :-) |

Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Leadfingers Date: 04 Feb 04 - 08:31 PM Indeed - Sunshine before Breakfast (Title for tune) on Sunday morning. By the time we had eaten breakfast it was cloudy again and Pouring with rain again at lunchtime, but we were in the Pub by then. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 04 Feb 04 - 05:30 PM There WAS sunshine. For about 20 minutes! Didn't you notice the sunburn on my face ;-) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 04 Feb 04 - 05:25 PM Yes, Andreas/Mudguard, Sorcha has a Mudcat indentity, or thinks she has. She'll probably be putting it to the test tomorrow night. Cracking photos, by the way, but did we really have that glimpse of fine weather, or had something gone wrong with your camera? |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 04 Feb 04 - 10:04 AM So many pulchritudinous Mudkittens, so many decrepit old Mudtoms.... **LOL** RtS (takes one to know one...) |

Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 04 Feb 04 - 07:58 AM So by what name is she registered? |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: JudeL Date: 04 Feb 04 - 07:55 AM the sorcha you met at portaferry is registered but not by that name |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 04 Feb 04 - 07:48 AM By the way, is Sorcha a registered member here at Mudcat? I guess the registered name "Sorcha" does not belong to the Sorcha I met at Portaferry - "Right hip sciatica kicking up here" does not sound like the Portaferry Sorcha... |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 04 Feb 04 - 07:07 AM And I thought you had spent that money on kidney-destroying liquids already... ;-) I hope they will find some kidney still working inside you! MudGuard from Munich (without the 8, my finger is better!) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Fibula Mattock Date: 04 Feb 04 - 07:03 AM meant to say - between the raffle, the leftover money from the dinner and personal donations, we raised about 100 quid for Mudcat. I'll see about getting that into the bank as soon as I can. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: alanww Date: 04 Feb 04 - 06:56 AM Great photos, Micca, MudGuard & catsPHiddle! And you got them up so quickly - well done! We'll be back! See you all again soon. I cannot make the Feb Yorkshire Gathering but hope to be at the May bash - if I don't see you before, that is! "Dear thoughts are in my mind ...!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Liz the Squeak Date: 04 Feb 04 - 02:57 AM Skippy, I've never had any trouble hugging blurks (except Mudguard, but we worked out that if I stand on a box.....) so I shall collect mine from you when I see you next. It's Ireland. Of course it's going to rain. That's why sessions were invented, to kill time between showers. Some sessions can last for days! Next year, I will persuade Manitas and we shall be there! LTS |

Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Skipjack K8 Date: 03 Feb 04 - 08:11 PM 'Tis all the little things in life that get stuck in my happy synapses, and I apologise now that I'm basking in the glow of Laphroaig, after a few at a lovely music and talking session at the Six Bells. The first is companionship, and as we were necessarily thrown together for six hours in a car, the wonderful company of Kate who is Katherine, Fibs who is Kate, and that gobshoite Viking guitarist of mine whom I love to bits made my weekend. I'm sorry we buggered up the group dynamic by sodding off to Dublin to see Planxty, but it had the same feel as witnessing Led Zep in '79. It was, quite simply, the best concert I have ever been to. True magic was abroad in Vicar Street. Secondly, it was the companionship of Barholm. We have given a lot of people a good laugh by admitting we're off to meet people we found on the electric internet, but over the last three years, we have fallen into an easy being-with-eachother that I desperately hope outlives the Eurogathering round my gaff in May. You are all special people in your myriad idiosyncratic ways, and our bandwidth is so broad because of it. Cuddling the ladies, and in farewell, the chaps was special too, and I will thank Mooman for showing me it was OK to hug a blurk. You were missed, Richard, and it was oft commented. I think I'd better stop, as this is a sauce-laden rant, even with its dearth of 9s, so I will retreat by asking Kate who is Fibs to do it all again next year, although I can't promise Christy, Donal, Andy and Liam will make it again! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: MudGuard Date: 03 Feb 04 - 06:45 PM Lovely, cat/Khatts! See also comments in PM... |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Catherine Jayne Date: 03 Feb 04 - 06:24 PM Here are some of my photos Loughstock II Khatts Piccies |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Noreen Date: 03 Feb 04 - 06:16 PM Thanks chaps for the speedy photographs, and congrats Andy for getting some outdoor photos in the 30 seconds between the end of the first shower (which lasted 3days) and the second shower (which lasted 2days). The local weather forecast had actually predicted showers, so that was ok then! We enjoyed (a fair bit of) the excellent Guinness and the hospitality of the local pubs- and the Saltwater Brig just up the road does the most mouthwatering Portavogie Scampi.... We could have done without the uninvited residents in the bedroom though :-/ Lovely to see everybody. We'll be back! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Feb 04 - 05:30 PM Lovely pictures Mudguard, it looks like you all had a lot of Guinness... I particularly like the one of Leadfingers working very hard! LTS |

Subject: RE: Loughstock-the bad news From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Feb 04 - 12:27 PM Hmmm, a gift of half used toothpaste.. I sense your attraction is waning Mudguard, is there something you should be telling me or is it just another woman...? ;] |
