no, I don't mean Hormel-- Here is a list of known spammers who put out maybe 90% of the crap you get in your email...Read the explanation and see what the truth about it is.

http://www.spamhaus.org/rokso/index.lasso

So, even though some of them ARE hidden in small countries, it seems to me that if that many are known, something could be done if the will were there. I think I shall lobby my congresspersons to improve on that silly 'law' they pretended to pass recently.

s6k - on an average day I get 100 to 150 e-mails - NOT counting spam. I may get 4 or 5 spam messages a day.

Bill, I've found that Spamhaus link interesting also. Too bad the new federal legislation lets people send spam legally. All they have to do is put an "opt out" line in it--meaning--as you can figure--that you have to OPEN and READ the shit to opt out. The same law nullified more powerful state laws. Stupid Bush administration. At every turn they're undoing good legislation, and always with an eye to the main chance for their business buddies.

... and the stupid greedy w*ankers send it to non - us adresses - mine is a .com.au address - some of the stuff is illegal to sell, illegal to make such claims, etc - who gives stuff about lwas of other countries... no wonder some people are becoming less tolerant of 'the wonderful American way' ... :-)

But WHY do they send it? Do they really make money from all these fishy schemes they're trying to sell?
You'd think that it must be profitable if they stay in it - or do they do it just to cause annoyance?

Because it's cheap for them, Joe. Once they've got the internet connection, it costs nothing more to send out a million emails. If they get just one sale, they're way ahead.

Hell, if they get a list of valid email addresses out of it, they can sell that too.

BTW, when you get a spam, and it says REMOVE ME FROM MAILING LIST, DO NOT click it!
it will then ask you to put in your address and they will "remove you from the database"

Clicking on the link verifies that your email exists, and you will just be bombarded with even more spam.

So, just delete them, dont try and remove yourself.

Just thought i'd let ya know, in case people werent aware of this
