I've had my website for I suppose a year and a half, maybe even two years, and never got around to finishing it.

Currently, in the wake of putting out my CD, The Real Story! , I got the enthusiasm (and motivation) to do the rest of what had to be done.

Take a look, if you will, at DaveOSings! . I'd be interested in your reactions.

Looks good,Dave but are you sure you should go putting your phone number out there on the web? Seems like a good way to attract a nutter to me.Also be aware that your e-mail will be harvested for Spammers.....might want to set up a separate account, if you haven't already.

You're probably right about the phone number. I'll think about whether I think it should be there. My email address has been available on it for a year or more, and I suppose it's been harvested plenty sufficient.

A simple way to obscure your email address from spam harvesters is to use an email encoder. I have used it on a couple of sites and have to date have had practically no spam. There is a free one at http://www.wbwip.com/wbw/emailencoder.html with instructions.

Interestingly, the only 2 email addresses that I have as more or less permanent fixtures on web sites are ones where I have never received spam. I'm not sure whether that means spammers avoid help@ addresses, whether some other poor sod gets the spam (in both cases more than one person has the help@ account) but that's not been reported to me or what.

As for the website, as a believer in simplicty rather than flashy, (unless you really know what you are doing - many, including me don't and could only end up producing "visual messes")I like it overall. It is clear, I can get the info I would want easily from there and it has a nice bit of a personal element. The only thing that spoils it for me is the popups. They annoy me at the best of times but I find this one more excessive than most.

Nice site Dave, I've just been right through it and maybe I was just lucky, but I only got one pop up, which I have to say didn't bother me at all.

Well, it looks really nice, Dave and I didn't have one pop-up! The only thing I would change is I wouldn't put a street address on there, but that's just my personal choice. Congratulations on the website AND your wonderful CD!

Dave, I just have to congratulate you on your CD, I listened to the sample on "cheaptracks" about the willow tree and it is absolutely BRILLIANT!!.
I shall be placing an order shortly.
