I was wondering if it's just me who's finding the Mudcat to have been slow this week. Slow to get here, slow to log in, slow to post, etc.

er...have you noticed that everything else around you is also "slow"? Could it be that you have entered a time warp? If this is the case, I believe you can adjust your speed by doing the appropriate dance.

You can speed things up a lot by doubling the clock speed of your computer. The easiest way to do this is to plug your 110 volt computer into a 220 volt outlet. This will double the speed of your computer -- briefly. It will also tease your olofactory senses.

naawww, brucie....it's just that hanging around the Mudcat with all its exciting personalities has gradually caused you to THINK faster. You need a week or two of watching TV soap operas to get your brain back to its normal dull pace again!

There could be a Trojan on your system.......try running a programme like AD-Aware.....which is share-ware or free-ware, I forget which. Do a Google search on trojans.

To be serious for a minute (sorry folks!):
Bruce: I got your email today saying you couldn't get into the Personal Messages and I replied, but the email was bounced back with this message:
"The SMTP Server program (your email address) host (your host address and number) said: 521 Server does not accept mail."

I have no idea what this means ! Sounds like a lot of problems all round. I hope there is someone who can help you sort it out.

It would seem that the Mudcat website has been down quite a few times this week.

One question, if you let PM's build up, can that have an effect on how quickly the site loads on your machine etc?

On my ISP forum, this issue was brought up and indeed it was important to keep PM's clear for best results. Plus there was a limit to how many PM's could be stored. If you didn't clean them, you coudn't send or receive Pm's.

Saving your PMs to archive has no effect on loading time EXCEPT for loading the list of PMs saved to archive.
