I watched last night's BBC4 Celtic Connections broadcast ( repeated later tonight), and it struck me how poor the sound mix was. One of the members of "Four Men and a Dog" was discussing the band's drive to create a unique, instantly recognisable sound, but I'm afraid the BBC sound mixers mustn't have been listening because certain instruments couldn't be heard at all - the rhythm guitar, for example. It must be very frustrating for bands when all their hard work at creating a particular sound is served so poorly by insensitive tv sound people.

The banjo was not easy to hear - which may be thought a blessing for some. It was nice to see them together again.

BBC production is always crap, in the Ralph Stanley programme last week, in the first song, the second instrumental break was a banjo break but the camera was on the mandolin player and the sound man had the banjo turned down, the next break was a mandolin break and the camera was on the banjo player. Great music, crap production.
