Subject: Tom Glazer From: GUEST,Cookie Date: 08 Mar 04 - 10:17 AM Would anyone know where I can buy a Cd of Tom Glazer's music? I live in the USA and can't seem to find his music anywhere. I would prefer a CD over LPs. Thanks |
Subject: RE: Tom Glazer - where to buy CD's From: GUEST,Martin Gibson Date: 08 Mar 04 - 09:20 PM Are you talking about Tom (Tompall) Glaser? Tompall Glaser was a country singer who was part of the "Outlaw" movement. Same guy or someone different? |
Subject: RE: Tom Glazer - where to buy CD's From: Joe Offer Date: 08 Mar 04 - 09:34 PM No, Martin, brothers Tom and Joe Glazer were part of the U.S. "folk scare." Tom (recently deceased) specialized in children's songs, and Joe in songs about labor - but both covered a much wider spectrum of folk music than that. Click here for a partial discography at Folkindex. I know of one Joe Glazer CD, a collection of labor songs called Folk Songs of the American Dream. No Tom Glazer CD's that I know of, although I've seen mention of novelty records that have a cut with Tom singing "On Top of Spaghetti." Is that the one you want, Cookie? Hey, maybe I was wrong - look at artistdirect.com (click). Another possible way to buy Tom's recordings may be at this site (click), but the links I clicked led to CD's that weren't available any more. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: Tom Glazer - where to buy CD's From: GUEST,Cookie Date: 08 Mar 04 - 10:03 PM Thank you Joe for all the info. Yes he did a song that was popular in the 60s and here are the lyrics. On Top of Spaghetti Tom Glaser On top of spagetti all covered with cheese I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed It rolled off the table, it rolled on the floor And then my poor meatball rolled out of the door It rolled in the garden and under a bush And then my poor meatball was nothing but mush. The mush was as tasty as tasty could be, And early next summer it grew to a tree. The tree was all covered with beautiful moss It grew great big meatballs and tomato sauce. So if you eat spaghetti all covered with cheesw, Hold on to your meatball and don't ever sneeze.^^^ Thanks again Joe, Cookie |

Subject: RE: Tom Glazer - where to buy CD's From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 09 Mar 04 - 05:25 PM I have a few of his vinyl LP's, but I am not aware of any CD's. I believe Tom Glazer helped popularize the song "12 Days of Christmas" here in the U.S. with a recording he made of it in the early 40's. |
Subject: RE: Tom Glazer - where to buy CD's From: Don Firth Date: 11 Mar 04 - 11:10 PM Tom Glazer was well before the "folk scare." He was active very early on, along with singers like Burl Ives, Susan Reed, and Richard Dyer-Bennet. The Kingston Trio were still in rompers. Don Firth |
