Mark Graham

DigiTrad:
A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR BRAIN
A SONG IN THE NIGHT
ANCIENT GREEKS
ETERNAL DOOM
FESTIVAL LOVE
GREAT GOD WHO MADE THE UNIVERSE
HAVE A NICE DAY
HONEST AL
I CAN SEE YOUR AURA, AND IT'S UGLY
I'M WORKING ON THE FOOD CHAIN
LIFE IS HARD, BUT IT'S HARDEST WHEN YOU'RE DUMB
MOAMMAR SAID TO HIS MEN
MOBY DICK
RUFUS AND BEVERLY
THE BIG BAND THEORY
THEIR BRAINS WERE SMALL AND THEY DIED
VEAL LIFE BLUES
ZEN GOSPEL SINGING

welcome to the mudcat community, orville.
i see you are a fellow 1953 baby--mee too.
we are approaching our 1/2 century mark!!
and i would love to hear stories about your
times on the julie belle swain! I wonder if
you have played on any boats, ships, ferries
in the Pacific north west?! Have you seen the
video of John Hartford of him on the river
boat that he captained? i think it was called
the general jackson...perhpas your paths crossed
on the river? I think it is connected with the
grand old opry...or is that grand ole opry?

o.k., o.j. you must be the mongrel orville johnson
who i mentioned in the blurb about you guys playing
in Chico. I am in the folk music society..I believe
your performance there was filmed for showing on a
local music t.v. show..i do not get that channel,
but did you ever get a copy of the film?? I suspect
they may air it occasionally...hope you were contacted
appropriately for permission, release, etc. I was at
a comtra dance recently (playing bodhran) where there
was a film guy who just showed up and started shooting
without asking or anything...then i find out he sells videos
over the internet...or us??!!
i hope not...cameras steal your soul...

oj shares the website with the funny songwriting harp blowing Mark.

It has always puzzled me that with so many Mark Graham songs on the Digitrad, his funniest one never made it there.

I wondered about that, too, Pete.
Do the Marks have a Website, and are they one or two persons, or a Trinity?
Looks like you can buy three of his albums here (click), and here (click) is a review of his "Natural Selections" album.
Looks like http://www.mongrelfolk.com may be Graham's Website, and a very cool website it is.

In my search, I came across this list (click) of funny folk songs. It's too good to pass by.

Are there two people named Mark Graham, one of whom writes serious gospel songs (Song in the Night, Great God who Made the Universe) and the other the harmonica player who wrote Festival Love & the rest of the list above? Or do we have a serious case of schizophrenia here? Inquiring minds wish to know. . .

We have had Mark Graham perform in Chico, CA-with a band called Open House (i think) he also has performed with Sandy Silva dancing - he on harmonica, AND she a percussive dancer. They went by the name of Hoof and Mouth. He also plays clarinet, I believe. Bryan Bowers (autoharp) does quite a few of mark's songs. He also has performed with Orville Johnson. Very inventive lyrics!!

Hi, Lillian - a request for this song just came up a week or two ago. I wonder why requests come in batches like that. Were you both listening to the same program? Click here for the previous thread and the lyrics.
