Well gol danged them microphones! Never know when they are turned off! Looks like John Kerry mighta taken a baby step towatd me likin' him more with his commenets about the Repubs being crooks and liars...

Ahhh, no that the Dems ain't crooks and liars, also...

But at least someone is callin' it the way I see it, even if it is another crook and liar.....

So, at least for now, Kerry get a gold star. 99 more and I will most likely vote fir him...

Oh, BTW, did those comments ever get the Repubs torqued? I love it!!!

Hastert demands an apology for Kerry's remark even though Kerrys remark had no subject to reveal who he was referring to.

A woman down the street from me is now facing life in prison for espionage. She actually lobbied to let the UN inspectors do their job and not let the US pull them out under threat of the gun.

She is out now on half million dollar bail. The govenment case against her includes the word peacenik.

Her goes another round of thought crimes punishable by the misuse of our espionage statutes.

I heard the remarks as spoken and you can tell he censored himself from using an explitive adjective by pausing and choosing the word "those guys" instead.

Use of words like 'liars' and 'crooks', once let out of the bottle, are too difficult for politicians to control because they puncture the facade they try and maintain.

Frankly, so few politicians aren't liars and/or crooks, I don't see why anyone would bat an eye at the statement.

Now, the woman just arrested for espionage, it will be interesting to see how the Kerry camp spins that one. She will be claiming selective prosecution under the Patriot Act I'm assuming, for her anti-war work. I really can't imagine Kerry coming to her defense in an election year. If he does, he's definitely got my vote. If not, well...at least we'll know where he really stands on civil liberties and the Patriot Act, eh?

Yes, that is the story being discussed. When the woman was shown on the evening news being escorted to the police car, she yelled at the cameras that she was innocent, and being arrested for her anti-war activism.

She is a second cousin to Bush's Chief of Staff, accordin to one news article which also clarified the charges: Lindauer is not charged with espionage. She was charged with conspiring with Raed Al-Anbuke and Wisam Al-Anbuke to violate a law that requires agents of foreign governments who are in the USA to register with the attorney general. The Al-Anbukes are sons of Iraq's former liaison to the U.N. weapons inspectors.

A commentator on this morning's news mentioned that a couple of times Bush has been caught by a live mike making outrageous statements, but his language was "so colorful" that it couldn't be aired on the media. This, along with the fact that the reporters who got him on tape, or their editors, were too damned wimpy (or right wing) to do anything with them. The commentator didn't elaborated on what he meant by "so colorful," but it doesn't take much imagination to figure that it involved the use of the "seven forbidden words" or something close. This by a sitting President could possibly raise the eyebrows of just about everybody and maybe cause some members of one of his main voting blocks, the religious right, to subject good old straight-and-narrow, family-values Georgie-Boy to an "agonizing reappraisal."

Of course, "Give 'em Hell" Harry Truman did it all the time, but he wasn't trying to be a goody-two-shoes for anybody. What you saw is what you got. You always knew exactly what he was thinking, expletives and all. I liked ol' Harry.

Kerry's people also want to keep their man in front of the tv cameras on the nightly news. Now that Kerry has the nom all sewn up, America ain't payin' no attention to the race. So in those circumstances, campaigns need to stir a bit of controversy into the mix in order to get back into the news cycle.

I'm quite certain Kerry's "gaffe" was intentional, and done so that the screaming punditry could keep playing over and over and over "those guys are a bunch of liars and crooks".

That doesn't hurt Kerry, it helps him.

Well, I'm gettin' a kick out of the Repubs reaction. One by one they're saying that they aren't crooks or liars and then bringing up their latest lie about Kerry wanting to extract $900B from the middle class.

Question: If you ask a statistican or economist to go about proving a point yopu want to make and he or she figgures out how to rationalize the position, is it a lie to forward the position? Hmmmmmm? Intregrity is certainly becoming a slippery commodity...

That woman arrested for espionage - I don't have a thing to say about her case. BUT:

Her father ran for governor in Alaska in the late 90's in a campaign astonishing for its stupidity and viciousness. He was a Republicant carpetbagger with a vague Alaskan connection running on money provided from his out-of-state wife. I'll never forget his campaign charge that the democrats were based on blasphemy.

The only connection I've noticed between father and daughter is they both have the same shit-eating grin.
