I just found out that cancer took another special person of my life, last week. The man who believed in my writing ability and gave me a start as an op/ed columnist died last Thursday. His name was Charles Levendosky and you may read about this remarkable man HERE. I had no idea he'd won so many awards and fellowships.
Even though I found his style of writing a bit convoluted, he was a man of great integrity and caring. I am sorry to hear of his passing. Without his mentorship I probably would never had had a monthly column, nor been carried in the Liberal Opinion Week, sometimes sharing a page with some of my favs. such as Ellen Goodman and Molly Ivins. Being carried in that publication led directly to one of my essays being published in a textbook.
So, thanks so much Charles for believing in me and may you be free of pain. You've left quite a legacy.
