I am 55 years old and when I was a boy, my father used to sing a song to us that his grandfather sang to him as a boy. That was my Great grandfather Bashline. I remember him, he lived into his 90's. The song, I believe, was a Welsh lullaby, Some lyrics I remember are "I chanced upon a big, brown, bear. A big brown bear was he." " and all he said was woof". The problem is, for most of my father's life, he could not remember one line in the song. He mentioned it to me the other day. He is 80 years old now and it would be nice to complete his song lyrics for his peace of mind and for our family heritage. Can anyone help? Thanks, Dale

I sang this song as a young boy myself with Grandmana at the piano. Mana-Zucca was my grandmother. It is one of my earliest memories. Thanks for finding the lyrics and posting them. Not sure if you remember my visit a few years ago- regarding your grandmother. I am finally working on my Doctorate and, of course, the topic of my dissertation will be Mana-Zucca! I have sung her songs and studied her life for so many years that she feels like an old friend. I'll be contacting all of you again in the near future for interviews, etc.   I have located the FIU digital files and will visit the University for further research. It might be fun for you to know that I assign her songs to my voice students on a regular basis and program her music on most of my recitals. Mana lives on in the voices of many singers even today. Until we all meet again-

I am 87 years old now. Way back in the 1930s I was a boy soprano in a choir/glee club. One of our favorite songs to sing was this "Big Brown Bear - Woof. I am happy to refresh the words in my mind, again.
