I've often wondered whether George Harrison "borrowed" from James Taylor for his song. The album on which the James Taylor song appeared (I think that there was an earlier recording of it by Tom Rush) was on the Apple label, so Harrison must have heard it, and I'm pretty sure that the Taylor album preceded Harrison's recording. "Plagiarise, but, please, call it research!" Tom Lehrer De mortuis nil nisi bonum. Alan |

Matthews Southern Comfort (one of Iain Matthews' early post-Fairport ventures) also did a great version of the song on their finest album "Second Spring" (currently available on CD on BGO Records). |

I'm happy to hear that "Second Spring" is available again. Do you know whether their first one has been reissued as well? Cheers, Michael |
